Happy Tax Day 2000
Welcome to Tax Day. Tensions always run high among the working men and women this time of year and rightly so. There are still months to go before Tax Freedom Day. A local think tank reported recently that Ohioans are taxed at a rate steeper than midevil serfs. Something has go to change folks.

And who is going to do the changing? Our Federal Government? The GOP? Don't hold your breath. The GOP made the front section of the Dispatch recently with a story about Representative Bill Archer, R-Texas, Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, introducing a bill "designed to help taxpayers." Mr. Archer calls it the Taxpayer Bill of Rights. Here are the highlights.

Read them over again...

Did you see anything there that makes you happy? Did you see anything there to make your kids happy? Did you see anything you even give a damn about? Confidentiality my ass! You can learn all you want to know at publicinformation.com. Are these the people I voted for? How many of my hard earned tax dollars is it going to take to create and manage this Bill of Rights? Don't we already have a Bill of Rights? Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Hell, that's what I need my tax money for! The blood sucking leeches in Washington are stealing my shot at one Bill of Rights to create another Bill of Rights.

Come on Republicans, do what I voted you in to do. I want my money back and all you bastards have done is to protect my right to give it away. Cut our taxes and stop strangling the productive people who voted for you. For every dollar that we send to Washington, we get about 28 cents back in funded programs. That's not $1.28 folks, that's $0.28! That's a rotten return even if you ignore the fact that nobody reading this editorial gets anywhere near 28 cents worth of benefit out of the programs the feds fund.

What is it going to take? When is the image-is-everything, press manipulating spin machine we call a government going to hear us? If you can's stand it anymore, blow off a little steam by taking a road trip to Kentucky and checking out the Machine Gun Shoot. Have a nice Tax Day.
