Welcome to the Fall Myrtle Beach 2000 Archive Page. Here you will find a history of the scintillating update dispatches sent from the sands of Myrtle Beach directly to the World Wide Web. Strange, I know.
Base Camp for this year's trip is the luxurious CondoLux property at Windy Hill. Early reports have it at the top of the luxury heap complete with a walkway connecting the parking garage with the main building.
The 2000 Edition will again feature three rounds of golf:

The First Arrival
The first dispatch is in! Guest reporter Scott offers the following observations straight from his perch overlooking the vast Atlantic:
Greetings!
You should have taken the extra time off to go to Myrtle Beach early. We are
enjoying crystal clear skies with a temperature of about 50 degrees. With
the sun you barely need a coat. I hear it is 18 degrees in Columbus. Ha ha
ha!
We sat on the balcony this morning watching the dolphins going up the coast
off a fishing boat. Very relaxing.
Catch you later!
Scott & Paula
Update #1:
While not a new land speed record, our 9 hour 35 minute trip passed uneventfully. Our 5:48 am departure provided a daylight arrival and orientation period. In fact, it's still light as I upload this dispatch. The skies are overcast and it's a rather chilly 55 F. Check on the Myrtle Beach forecast at The Weather Channel.
By now you have likely noticed the absence of images on the update page. Jeff and Scott both brought digital cameras, so I decided to leave mine in Columbus. Unfortunately, Scott didn't bring the necessary cables to upload images from his camera and Jeff is not due until 9:30 pm. You'll just have to use your imagination until late tonight or tomorrow.
Update #2:
Mother Nature shined on us today with a sunny 60 degree day. Unfortunately, the warm weather did not translate into any really good scores. Chuck (Scott's brother-in-law) took low gross honors at 86. It went up dramatically from there. The bottom line is that everyone endured and enjoyed the day.
Golf was followed by shopping at the Golf Manufacturer's Outlet in Calabash(!). Given the proximity to the namesake of Low Country food style, we checked out half a dozen seafood joints on the docks of Calabash, all to no avail, and ended up at The Marina.
Golf and dinner were followed by more shopping. Thankfully, this time it was golf shopping at Martin's and Golf Dimensions. Angie bought some shoes and Santa bought something for Jeff. Ho, ho, ho.
The evening was capped off with a relaxing soak in the oceanside hot tub. Those of you waiting for images will have to wait until tomorrow; we forgot the camera in the car. Sunrise is at 6:58 am. Hasta manana.
Final Update:
Wow! What happened to the much anticipated stream of live updates? Unfortunately, some photographic glitches, Mother Nature, and a busier social agenda combined to minimize the number of updates for this year's Fall Myrtle Beach Trip.

No, this isn't a picture of us immediately before hitting the road home. Torrential rains drowned our round at The Pearl West on Saturday after just five holes. Scott and Paula managed to squeeze in the entire front nine protected from the rain by new GoreTex suits.
The rain eased off in time for dinner and had moved off shore by hot tub time. A second annual Trivial Pursuit match capped final night in the condo, although the final piece of pie was not won until nearly midnight.
An early alarm was followed by a return to Harry the Greek's for breakfast. The drive up to Deercroft Country Club saw the temperature drop from a balmy 50 to a brisk 40 at tee time. Still, life felt a lot better without Saturday's rain. Several mediocre scores later, we hit the road home. Everyone was in bed by no later than 10:30.
