The Longest Yard is the story of pro-quarterback Paul Crewe and former college champion and coach Nate Scarboro, who are doing time in the same prison. Asked to put together a team of inmates to take on the guards, Crewe enlists the help of Scarboro to coach the inmates to victory in a football game "fixed" to turn out quite another way.

RELEASE DATE: May 27th, 2005 (USA) SHOOTING DATES: July 2004 -- ??? - Snoop Dogg was attached to the film but dropped out. - Burt Reynolds starred in the original film as well as this remake. - Adam Sandler trained with Sean Salsbury, a 14-year NFL veteran quarterback. - Gary Oldman was in talks to play the prison warden but negotations fell through. James Cromwell replaced him. - Steve Austin tore his hamstring while training for the football scenes. - Former NFL players Brian Bosworth, Michael Irvin and Bill Romanowski are cast in the same positions they played while they were pro players. Bosworth and Romanowski are linebackers on the team of prison guards while Irvin plays a wide receiver on the team of convicts.
