|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
In a futuristic world, a strict regime has eliminated war by suppressing emotions: books, art and music are strictly forbidden and feeling is a crime punishable by death. Cleric John Preston is a top ranking government agent responsible for destroying those who resist these rules. When he misses a dose of Prozium, a mind-altering drug that hinders emotions, Preston, who has been trained to enforce the strict laws of the new regime, suddenly becomes the only person capable of overthrowing it.

CRITICAL COMMENTS | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
"A science-fiction pastiche so lacking in originality that if you stripped away its inspirations there would be precious little left." -- Manohla Dargis, Los Angeles Times
"It doesn't do a lot of deep thinking, but unlike many futuristic combos of sf and f/x, it does make a statement: freedom of opinion is a treat to totalitarian systems." -- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun Times
