HALF A LOAF OF KUNG FU (1980)
MORGAN'S RATING
Directed by Hong Kong legend Chi-Hwa Chen, Half a Loaf of Kung Fu follows the exploits of happy-go-lucky Jiang, a bumbling orphan eager to master the martial arts. After a chance encounter with Mao, a one-time kung fu master who's now a homeless beggar, Jiang quickly learns the ropes in a series of inspired mishaps -- and soon grows skilled enough to be recruited by the mighty Sern Chuan Bodyguards, who've been entrusted with an all-important mission: to transport the famed "Evergreen Jade" treasure for safe-keeping. Attacked by ruthless highwaymen who attempt a heist along the way, only Jiang remains alive to defeat the band of thieves and protect the priceless gem. Now a fiercesome army of one, Jiang declares all-out war on his adversaries!
