|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

FACTS | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Professor X: Logan, my tolerance for you smoking within the mansion notwithstanding; continue smoking that in here, and you will spend the rest of your life believing you are six-year-old girl. Wolverine: You would do that? Professor X: I would have Jean braid your hair. |

RELEASE DATE: May 2nd, 2003 (USA) DVD RELEASE DATE: November 25th, 2003 (USA) BOX OFFICE OPENING: $85.5 million (USA) BOX OFFICE RESULT: $214.9 million (USA) BUDGET: $110 million (USA) PRODUCTION DATES: June 2002 -- October 2002 - Hugh Jackman worked with the same trainer who trained Angelina Jolie for the title role in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001). - Shawn Ashmore is the only actor with a minor role from the first film to return in the same capacity (as Bobby 'Iceman' Drake). New actors were selected for the roles of Kitty Pryde and John Allerdyce. - Ethan Embry was originally cast as Nightcrawler before the role went to Alan Cumming. - Professor Xavier's opening monologue is the same as in the first movie. - Alan Cumming had to endure eight hours of make-up to become Nightcrawler. Rebecca Romijn-Stamos' make-up took three hours. - Professor X's wheelchair was auctioned after the first movie was finished. It was bought by a lawyer (who also works for the same law firm as Patrick Stewart's attorney). When production began, the studio realized they had no chair anymore, so the lawyer rented it back to the studio -- as Stewat said in an interview -- "for a significant sum". - The "Lady Deathstrike" claws were glued to the bottom of Kelly Hu's own fingernails. She had to grow them out a bit so that the claws would fit securely. - Hugh Jackman was given a nutritionist to get in shape for his role as Wolverine and gained 20 pounds. - The fight between Wolverine and Lady Deathstrike took three weeks to film. - Only the cockpit was built for the X-jet. The rest was a blue screen. |

"Once you get past issues related to trying to figure out who everyone is, how they relate to one another, and what their powers are, the movie turns out to be pretty entertaining." -- James Berardinelli, Reel Views
"A substantial improvement over X-Men, in many ways." -- Jami Bernard, New York Daily News
"The longer the movie goes, the more its 133 minutes prove wearing." -- Mike Clark, USA Today
"Dumb, but good." -- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun Times
"This time out there's more action, more character development, more special effects and a much bigger budget." -- Paul Clinton, CNN
