Lawrence Balding

Lawrence W. Balding, a lifelong Onarga resident, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 8, 1985, at a Santa Monica, Calif. Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He had made his home the past year with his daughter, Phyllis Kieser of Santa Monica.
Other survivors include two grand daughters; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, his twin, Florence Kuhlman of Crescent City, Wilda Ficklin and Maude Rask of Onarga, and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers and a sister are deceased.
Memorial services and burial in Onarga Cemetery are pending.

Mary Balding
Mrs. Mary Balding died at her home in Onarga Tuesday, Feb. 29, after an illness of 7 months. She was born in Leedsville W. Virginia, Nov. 5, 1886 (1866), the daughter of Nimrod and Rebecca Wimoth. The family moved to the Onarga community when she was quite young. Later they moved to Sheldon. She lived there until 1909 when she returned to Onarga and has lived here ever since. She united in marriage to Walter Balding March 18, 1891 and survived by the following children: Ethel Mosher, Kankakee; Leo Balding, Chicago; Elmer Balding, Clinton; Maud Rask, Willow Springs; Florence Kuhlman, Crescent City; Clarence and Lawrence Balding and Wilda Ficklin, Onarga. The funeral was held at the Christian Church Friday at 2 p.m., Rev. James Saint conducting the services. Burial in Onarga under direction of Amerman Brothers. |

Mrs. Charles Balding
The funeral of Mrs. Chas. Balding, who died of neuralgia of the stomach while visiting in Chicago, was preached in the M.E. Church by Rev. Ayling on Monday afternoon. A large concourse of people were present to pay the last tribute of respect to a much esteemed friend and neighbor. Deceased leaves a husband and little daughter to mourn her loss.

Elmer Balding
Funeral serives for Elmer Balding, 57, of Clinton, formerly of Onarga, were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Christian church in Clinton. Mr. Balding was a railroad engineer on the Illinois Central Railroad. He took sick on the locomotive on Wednesday morning of last week. He was taken off the train but died before he reached the doctor’s office. He was born Dec. 28, 1897 at Sheldon. At one time he was a resident of Onarga. Surviving are his widow; a son Schulyer Balding at home; four sisters, Mrs Wilda Balding of Onarga, Mrs. Maud Rask of Chicago, Mrs. Ethel Moser of Kankakee, Mrs. Florence Khulman of Crescent City, three brothers, Clarence and Lawrence of Onarga and Leo Balding of Chicago; several cousins including Mrs. Vera Whaley of Onarga.

Former Onarga Resident Dies
George Leo Balding of Bridgeview, formerly of Onarga, passed away Saturday, August 16, at the age of 75.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Virgil and Elmer of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. John Dorman of Goldsboro and Mrs. Dorothy Dixon of Maryland; sixteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Moser (Mosher) of Kankakee, Mrs. Maude Rask and Mrs. Wilda Ficklin of Onarga and Mrs. John W. Kechlman (Kuhlman) of Crescent City and two brothers, Clarence and Lawrence, both of Onarga.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 19 at the Southwest Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur P. Sengpiehl officiating. Burial was in Bethania cemetery.
