The Missing 4 WeeksBy Mike Phillips |

written AUG 17, 1998In episode 1.6 when Peter Clifford Speaks to Assumpta, he mentions
that it has been ten weeks since he first arrived in
Ballykissangel. Even though some of the episodes in series I cover more than one
day none comprise more than a week. Even if you were to count 1 episode a week that still leaves the 4
missing weeks that I write about. Leaving 4 weeks of untold stories
out their in the mists of tv land. A point, something coming real soon. So read on. What if after
series IV the BBC wants to make a movie version of our beloved
series. Money after all is a factor in all things. And if
Ballykissangel is truly the worldwide phenomenom that it is, surely
the BBC will realize a movie will need to be made. Somewhere someone is saying , "But Brian Quigley already tried to
make BALLYKISSANGEL - THE MOVIE. What I hope will happen, is
that a big screen version will eventually be made of
BALLYKISSANGEL. I know, I know that Stephen Tompkinson and Dervla Kirwin have
stated they wouldnt return to the series. And to that I say, "They
killed off Spock in STAR TREK II, brought him back as a director and
the rest if History. (Leonard Nimoy directed several successful
movies and made even more money for himself) So I'm sure that if the conditions were right, and that if the
money and job oppurtunities tied to projects afterward they could be
lured back to do a movie. And if a big screen adaptation was made of Ballykissangel. And if
it was set in this missing 4 week period. It wouldnt be the first
movie that was a prequel to a pre-existing body of work. All the Indiana Jones movies were prequels to RAIDERS OF THE
LOST ARK And May 21, 1999 the first prequel to STAR WARS will be finally
released. So prequels can be viable projects. And remember since it is just
TV that anything is possible.
