Mike and Joann write Ballykissangel

Discovering the show!

If you have ever been a fan of any particular television series, then you most likely at one point or another have written a fan letter. And unless you're a STAR TREK fan, the only contact you'll ever have with your favorite actor/actress would be through the mail.

When our friend in England wrote us saying he would be taping for us a new series called Ballykissangel for us, we had no idea what to expect. When the videos arrived we were soon held captive by the far away town called Ballykissangel.

We have written to USA actors and were underwhelmed with responses. Because of this we didnt immediately write any of the cast to tell them how much we enjoyed the show. Plus the series hasn't started airing here yet, and we wondered if they would believe that we had actually seen their show. So we just enjoyed the first and second series. But after watching that last episode of series II we decided we had to write to the cast and tell them how much we've enjoyed the show!

That's where we begin our tale:

When we began, Joann and I wrote to the cast at a address in England. This was the only address we knew, and since it had worked for the majority of the casts of RED DWARF & BRITTAS EMPIRE we thought it was worth a try. Luckily the England address forwarded the mail to BBC IRELAND.

About a week or so after we wrote the cast we started to getting responses. Our first letter came from Niall Toibin (Father MacAnally).

and soon many of the other cast as well.

We've tried to archive many of the letters that the cast wrote us, along with the autographs they sent us. Many web sites have behind the scenes details that We being based in Texas could never equal. So we'll not try. The series has affected us though. And We are pleased the series will be back on the air for Series IV. We hope the series does well in the ratings.
