THE ATARI 7800

INTRODUCING THE SYSTEM WITH THE HIT GAMES, THE 'ATARI 7800'!!!!

The Atari 7800 was produced back in 1984 to take over for the ageing Atari 2600 and 5200.

The Atari Corporation wanted the 7800 games to be state of the art in graphics and all around sound. For the system itself, they had alot of promising plans, such as: Atari 2600 Game compatibility, Keyboard add-on, along with an High Score Cartridge which would allow gamers for the first time ever, to save their game scores on, and it even had an expansion port built into it, for it to connect to furture peripherals.

Before the 7800 could be released to eagerly awaiting customers, Atari's new CEO 'Jack Trameil' stopped all production work onit, and shelved it, instead focusing his attention on producing computers.

While 'Jacks' rampaging was occuring, a little known company named Nintendo approached Atari and offered them the chance to promote and sell there new Nintendo Entertainment System code named 'NES' in the United States of America. Atari Enginers didn't like the concepts of the 'NES's' controller, and good old Jack, (who could of cared less about video games), told them no. Being turned down, Nintendo then decided to promote and sell their 'NES' in American themselves.

FAST FORWARD TO 1986,

Nintendo releases it's 'NES' in the United States of America, making Nintendo massive amount of cash due to record sales. Seeing this, Jack who wanted to make money, decided to sell the Atari 7800 with Pole Position II as the packed-in game!

Sadly due to Jack's cheap business ethics, the Atari 7800 was brought out into the world where it wasn't allowed to show off it's true colors and faded out of lime light, with it's de-comissioning in 1991.

But the storie doesn't end there!
Even though Jack Trameil forced the Atari 7800 to come out with almost any support, the Atari 7800 did have some killer games made for it, that should be remembered for what the Atari 7800 could of had been!
