TDSPJ
YEAR 2000 WESAK DAY CELEBRATION
RELEASING (FREEING)
OF LIVES.

Rinpoche representing
& leading all TDSPJ devotees in the 'Releasing of Life' ceremony. Many
Buddhist in Malaysia took the 8 precepts on this auspicious day to commenmorate
the Birth, Enlightnement & Parinibanna of Lord Shakyamuni Buddha.
Few hundred thousands
of these birds were released in Malaysia on Wesak Day. The strong presence
of Buddhism in Malaysia truly a blessing which money cannot buy. The Mahayana
has the strongest root here followed by the Hinayana (Theravada) and lastly
the Vajrayana. |

This has been a yearly
occasion in TDSPJ and Thrangu Rinpoche is always here to lead all on the
auspicious Wesak Day.
Birds were released
back to their natural habitat, this is a common practice amongst Buddhist
around the world. Back in Malaysia it is a National Holiday endorsed by
the gorvernment. Most families with their childrens thronged monasteries
and dharma centres to pay their respect and there are also float possessions
throughout the country. The grandest float possession is normally seen
in big cities like Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, Penang, etc..........(check
out the photos of one UKKF member centre in Seremban) |

Thrangu Rinpoche aided
by Lama Lodrö and Karma Tengye in releasing of the birds. It is a
delicate job as few of the birds didn't want to fly out from the cage.
It is made difficult as the compassionate Thrangu Rinpoche have not the
heart to hurt the birds, likewise the monks who aid Rinpoche.
This is a recommended
practice for all Buddhist, back in Tibet they even purchase lifestocks
heading for the slaughter house just to release them again.
Lastly, this is the
Lord Buddha's teaching together with all the Sangha communities and is
the most basic of the 5 precepts. |
