Australian Centre of the Asian Spatial Information & Analysis Network (ACASIAN)
The Centre specializes in Geographical Information System (GIS) databases for Asia and the Former Soviet Union. The China site sells information such as administrative boundries, cities & towns, rivers & lakes, transport routes, etc.

China Background Notes
The U.S. State Department and the Bureau of East Asian & Pacific Affairs released this list of data covering the following topics: geography; people; government; economy; language; religion; population; history; legal system; education; human rights; agriculture; industry; energy & mineral resources; environment; transportation; communications; science & technology; trade & investment; foreign relations; defense.

China in Time and Space (CITAS)
Centered at the University of Washington CITAS maintains databases of spatially- and temporally-referenced data on China using GIS technology. Sections include: vectorized base maps; socioeconomic data; geocoding & database design; bibliographic resources. The information is also hosted at the Consortium for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN).

Consortium for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) & Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC)
CIESIN has been designated by NASA to create and operate SEDAC, one of the data centers in the Earth Observing Data and Information System (EOSDIS). SEDAC's mission is to develop and deliver information products and services that integrate social and natural science data. One project is China Dimensions which has guides for and access to a suite of data products on the PRC.

Statistics & Data from Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC)
MOFTEC is a functional department under the State Council of the PRC and is in charge of the overall administration of China's foreign trade and economic cooperation. They offer recent and past figures for: foreign trade; utilization of foreign capital; foreign economic cooperation.

Statistics Division of UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia & the Pacific (ESCAP)
Formed in 1951 to improve statistical capabilities and the exchange of technical information. The site includes: ESCAP and public sector computerization; data for Asia & the Pacific; statistical publications; newsletters; Committee on Statistics.
