Of the Same Cloth
Distances we've travelled while together and apart,
Of
paths that wind and twist and double back,
Bringing closer, finally, a
place where we can start
A tapestry to cover what we lack.
Weaving through a fabric shot with myriad emotions
Are
threads of egos, tender, weak and strong.
Lessons learned, the work is
hard, embrace the needling notions;
Relationships can rend if left too
long.
Blanketed with sympathy to one another's plight,
We shall
confront and comfort, clash and jest.
Epiphany! Complacency is opposite
of right!
The battle's on--our hearts can never rest.
Clattering, the shuttle claps across the loom of life.
Emerging from the folds, the patterns blend;
Drawing strength from victories
we've won through joy and strife,
The cloth becomes fine linen in the end.
