Love that Transcends Time | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
When the jewel was shattered, a small piece of it flew until it landed in an oddly-shaped tree. But as it shifted and moved, the tree is discovered to be actually a person, who had been trapped inside the real tree. And now, thanks to the jewel, he is free, and awake. Night-time, and Sesshoumaru's walking alone near a pond of some sort. A moth flutters by, and Sesshoumaru stops and looks over at a pair of women standing on a nearby log. They ask for "The Fang", and Sesshoumaru looks down to Tenseiga, his father's fang. He doesn't move to give it to them, and so they attack, forming swords and a spear out of energy. But Sesshoumaru uses his own youki (demon energy) to create his youki whip, and lashes out, knocking both women down as well as slicing the moth in half. He retracts his whip, and walks off, leaving the two women dead, or dying. A man's voice is heard, and the women come back to life. The man is revealed to be the same one that was freed by the Shikon jewel. He's staring at something, and saying that they need the Fang, and that he can feel the destructive force of it. "The spell can be broken. Tetsusaiga." In the modern era, Souta is searching for his grandfather, and finally finds him looking at the God Tree. Souta tells him it's time for breakfast, and Grandpa points out that the tree is blooming, something that hasn't happened in 500 years. Grandpa is telling the tale of the God Tree, including InuYasha's time spent there, while eating breakfast. Kagome, who is busy making food, continues the story from where she freed InuYasha. Souta compliments her on her cooking, but she refuses to share. She wraps the food up, and while thinking about how all this began, and jumps into the well. In the past, everyone's fighting a giant scorpion, although Miroku and Sango are wondering why an underground scorpion is above-ground. Everyone attacks, and Shippou finally tries to help out, only to end up tumbling down the hill. Kagome climbs out of the well and grabs her bike, and starts heading off to find the group, still talking about all the things that had happened so far. Then she ends up going down a bumpy hill, and screams all the way down. Shippou's running from the scorpion, and ends up turning into a statue to hide. Sango gets knocked off of Kirara, and Miroku catches her, only to be slapped by her when he rubs her bottom. Kirara gets hurt, but she comes back and fights some more. Myouga was drinking when he noticed Kagome arriving, and tells her about the other's battles and that he didn't run away, he was trying to find her. InuYasha gets thrown into some rock, and Shippou whines that the hanyou can't fight without Kagome around. Inu and Shippou are tugging at each other's faces when Kagome arrives, waving. Everyone greets her, happy to see her. Shippou leaps for the safety of the bike basket, sticking his tongue out at Inu, while the dog-demon asks Kagome why she's late. She apologizes and explains she was cooking for them, only to have Inu be rude to her. "So, I apologized!" Shippou: "Yeah!" The scorpion ends up attacking where Kagome and the others are, and InuYasha grabs them both and leaps away. He asks her if she's okay, and Shippou pops up and says he's fine. Inu asks where the shard is, and Kagome explains that it's in the scorpion's tail. Sango's boomerang knocks off the scorpion's pincers, and with a Kaze no Kizu (Wind Scar in America), Inu knocks the tail off of the scorpion, and badly injures it. Miroku uses his Kazaana (Wind Tunnel) to suck up the pieces of scorpion left over, while Kirara turns back to normal and jumps into Sango's arms. Kagome is a bit squeamish about pulling the shard from the still-twitching tail, so Inu stabs the tail and knocks the shard out. Kagome reaches down and pulls the shard from the poison, purifying both shard and poison. The strange man is watching everything, and the two women bow when he tells them good job. A moth is on his hand, and the cave is filled with moths. The group has a picnic, and Kagome has a hard time getting Inu and Shippou to eat, since Inu keeps sniffing at it, and Shippou thinks a split sausage is a tiny naked creature with legs. Sango and Miroku start eating, and finally everyone else dives in. While Inu's shoveling food into his mouth, Kagome asks how it is. He brushes her off and goes to pick up one of Kagome's fried egg pieces. (she calls them her proud creation.) But Shippou reached for it at the same time. They glare at each other, until Inu finally hits Shippou in the head and eats the egg. Miroku tells Shippou not to take it so seriously, but then ends up trying to take the same sausage as Shippou. Miroku goes to glare for the rights to his food, only to be met by a nervous, tearful look from Shippou. He lets the fox have the sausage, who eats it happily. Kirara is licking at her wound, and Kagome asks InuYasha if the food was good. He starts digging through her bag, and pulls out a bowl of Ramen. Kagome gets mad and stalks off, then "Sit's" him about 7 or 8 times, gets on her bike, and rides off, yelling, "I don't care about you!" The rest of the group tell him that he hurt her feelings. Kirara is whining, and everyone looks down to see Kirara having problems with her wound. Sango says that the cat is hot, and Miroku suggests the wound is poisoned. Myouga tries to draw the poison out, but Kirara whines and jumps out of Sango's arms, running off into the woods, a worried demon slayer behind her. Miroku tells Shippou he's going to help Sango, and tries to lift her boomerang, only to be surprised by how heavy it is. Kagome's riding her bike, talking angrily to herself, then ends up falling over, complaining that "Nothing good is happening today." In the woods, Sango and Miroku find Kirara in the arms of two women, who tell Sango that the cat was poisoned, and that they helped her. Sango and Miroku thanks them, but then Miroku asks if they can both bear his child. Sango hits him in the head with her boomerang, and he apologizes. "Sorry, I always say this when I see beautiful women." "You don't have to say it!" Miroku asks if they came from China, while Sango holds Kirara. The women explain that they did, and Miroku asks how they speak Japanese so well. Then, with the pendants on their foreheads glowing, the women explain: "Of course we came here..." "200 years ago." Realizing they're demons, Miroku moves in front of Sango, who tries to protect Kirara. But they are both wrapped up in tree roots, and one pulls the demon cat from Sango. Miroku's staff falls to the ground, standing up, and the woman with the longer, lanvender hair blows on the tip of a leaf, causing sparkling dust to land on Sango's roots, and turn into scorpions. Miroku says that they summoned that morning's scorpion, and the women agree. They say that they had planned it all out. Miroku uses hhis Kazaana to pull the scorpions off of Sango, but the dark-blue haired woman flies up to Miroku, and says that she was waiting for him to do that. She fuses her hand with Miroku's, and says that she has the power of fukusha. Miroku's confused, and can't close his hand to keep Sango from being sucked in. He finally drapes the prayer beads over his palm, and seals the curse, as well as knocking the demon's hand away. But Sango has been pulled from her roots, and she crashes into Miroku, knocking him to the ground as well. The dark-blue haired demon lands and smiles at Miroku, who's hand is smoking. He asks what she did, and she replies. "Yes, I got it from you. Your Kazaana!" She opens her hand, to reveal a familiar black hole which starts to draw them in. Miroku is holding onto Sango and his staff in order to prevent them from being drawn in, but is saved by an arrow flying in front of the demon. The two women agree that there are intruders around, and decide to leave, calling for Kirara. When the demon cat appears, she seems not to recognize Sango, and has a glowing pendant embedded in her forehead, which matches that of the women. They fly off, saying that Kirara is theirs now, while Sango yells for Kirara. Kaede walks out of the forest, and asks if they're alright. Miroku realizes she shot the arrow, and talks to her while Sango changes. Kaede explains that the trees and plants felt odd, like danger. When she looks up at them, she realizes they've already left. Elsewhere, Kikyou and her soul-stealers go to the God Tree, where Kikyou says that the tree is sensing danger. "Does it want InuYasha?" Kagome, still mourning her bike, and trying to decide how to tell her mother, come upon the clearing and freezes when she sees Kikyou brushing her hand against the tree where Inu was pinned. Kikyou's head moves a little towards Kagome, and she drops her bike and hides in the bushes, feeling stupid for making so much noise, and for hiding. When she looks back over at the tree, though, Kikyou is gone. Shippou is following InuYasha as he heads toward the forest, saying he's going to bring Kagome back. Shippou teases him, saying he just wants to see her. Inu sees Kikyou's soul-stealers and stops, then flicks Myouga off his shoulder. Shippou catches the flea and tells Inu to respect his elders, but Inu says not to follow him, and runs off. Myouga tells Shippou that Inu's behavior is a curse. Kagome steps over to the tree, and remembers how she met InuYasha, and how Kikyou is still in love with InuYasha. She stretches and says she should be going home, but the sunlight hits something in the tree, and Kagome sees a glint in the hole left by Kikyou's arrow. She tries to feel it and see what it is, but is cut, and sits on the roots, sucking on her injured finger. While she's thinking sad thoughts about her mission, and how Kikyou can't collect the shards so long as Kagome is there, InuYasha walks up. He startles Kagome by leaning into her face, glaring at her cut finger. Kagome blushes, but Inu grabs her hand and licks off the blood, then reaches into his haori and pulls out a piece of cloth, tearing it with his teeth while saying that if Myouga saw her wound, he'd be jumping for joy. Kagome yelps and says that the cloth he ripped was a napkin that she liked, but Inu brushes it off while wrapping her finger. He asks her is she's alone, and she asks why. "Nothing." "You were looking for Kikyou, weren't you?" His ear twitches, and Kagome says "I knew it! You ran over here to find Kikyou!" He calls her rude and tightens the cloth on her finger, before walking off, telling her to come on. Kagome thinks on how Kikyou and InuYasha will always be drawn together, and how she can't come between them, only to be interrupted by the sound of thousands of moths flying overhead, poisonous powder floating to the ground around them. InuYasha covers his mouth and tells Kagome not to breathe after she almost passes out from the dust. Inu tries to destroy the moths, but complains that there are too many. Then the moths come together in one large group, and the man from before appears, laughing. The man introduces himself as Menomaru, and attacks InuYasha, delighted at seeing the Tetsusaiga. Kagome finally breathes again, and Inu calls her an idiot. Menomaru says that the sword is being wasted by being used to protect humans, and that he'll put it to better use if Inu hands it over. Inu refuses and attacks, only to have Tetsusaiga knocked from his hands. Kagome passes out, and Inu attacks with his claws, hoping to help Kagome, but Menomaru spits out moths which distract InuYasha long enough for Menomaru to get close and attack the half-demon. He hits InuYasha with his sword, and Inu ends up passing out. "Boring, you're unconscious already?" Menomaru goes to grab Tetsusaiga, and test it on InuYasha, but is stopped by the barrier preventing full-demons from touching it. Menomaru has problems standing for a while, but gains his ground again. He says that since he can't touch the sword, he'll take advantage of the unconscious Kagome. That evening, InuYasha wakes up to see Myouga and Shippou, who explain that they bandaged his wounds. Inu asks where Menomaru is, but they don't know. Shippou asks where Sango, Miroku, and Kagome are, while Inu realizes that she's gone, although her bike is still here. He tells them that Menomaru took her, since she wouldn't leave without telling him. Shippou complains that he couldn't do anything, and ends up being hit in the head. He sulks while InuYasha puts his tops back on, and Myouga asks if Inu is sure the demon called himself Menomaru. "Yeah! He did! Do you know anything about him?" "He is a big demon in China, and he's Hyouga's only son." "Demon from China?" "Yes! From 200 years ago when huge Chinese troops tried to invade Japan, to go after the dead souls, the demons followed. Then, InuYasha, your father tried to stop them... and got into a huge battle with them causing strong winds. Your dad succeeded in entrapping some of them, the rest fled back to China." Inu asks if Myouga was there, and the flea says that both Inu and his father did dangerous things, but he knows where Menomaru would be. They run off to find him, while Shippou trails behind, yelling for them not to leave him. In another forest, Kagome is tied down, unconscious. Menomaru explains to the two women that she is bait for InuYasha, since he couldn't touch the sword. They ask if Kagome would bring InuYasha to them, and Menomaru says that Inu's family loves humans. And since Inu has the same flesh and blood from his father, who was in love with a human, Inu has the same problem. Menomaru tells the lavender-haired demon to control Kagome, saying, "To finish InuYasha off, we need to do this." The demon agrees and places her fingers against the sides of the pendant on her forehead, making another pendant materialize. She tries to place it on Kagome's forehead, but it bounces off, shocking them all. The lavender-haired demon says that Kagome has very strong spiritual powers, and her partner asks if the girl is a miko (shrine maiden). Menomaru materializes a jewel shard between his fingers (remember the one that freed him?), and pricks his finger with the tip, coating it in his blood. He tells them to use the jewel shard with the pendant on her. The lavender-haired demon fuses the two together and places it on Kagome's forehead, where it sinks in. Kagome wakes up and starts struggling against the roots holding her, only to have them fall away, further surprising the two women. Kagome asks where InuYasha is, and Menomaru explains that he's on his way. She asks what he intends to do with her, but is distracted when Kirara starts to growl at her. Kagome yells at them, wanting to know what they did, then grabs an arrow and a bow from the remains on the cave floor, aiming at Menomaru. The pale-haired woman tells the moths to control the girl, and Kagome falls to her knees. At least, she does until Hiraikotsu appears, slicing through a lot of the moths. Sango and Miroku run into the room, trying to save Kagome and Kirara. The demon-cat transforms into her large shape, and the lavender-haired woman makes her swords appear, saying that Kirara doesn't want to go back to Sango. She and Sango fight while Miroku is attacked by the demon with the dark-blue hair. Kagome fires an arrow at Menomaru, saying that she told him she was serious. He calls her prey, and draws his sword, darting down to her side at a speed that surprises Kagome. Before Menomaru can attack Kagome, though, InuYasha appears, and sends a Kaze no Kizu at Menomaru. Inu tells Menomaru that he's come to take Kagome back. Both Miroku and Sango are happy to see InuYasha, but the female demons aren't, and call upon Kirara, who flies off as they two women leap onto her back. Inu and Menomaru fight for a while, but when Menomaru is hit with the Kaze no Kizu, a nearby pod glows a dark pink, and Menomaru's wound heals, bringing the demon back to life. Myouga leaps out onto InuYasha's shoulder and explains that Menomaru's getting his power from the Hyouga, the solid dark-pink ball with his father's energy inside it. "Hyouga's body is now gone, but its unlimited power is stored there." Menomaru is surprised that Myouga didn't run off this time, and the flea yells back that he would have, if InuYasha hadn't tied him to the spelled necklace. Menomaru claims that he's immortal, and isn't scared of InuYasha, but Inu ends up attacking anyway, while Myouga tells him to stop. Even Miroku and Sango say that something's wrong. InuYasha uses the Kaze no Kizu, and hits Menomaru, but the demon claims he was waiting for that moment, and the broken fang that sealed away Hyouga's actual solid energy from Menomaru, keeping him from inheriting it, is broken. The cave collapses on them, and InuYasha grabs Kagome and runs out, while Miroku and Sango are trapped inside. Kagome asks where they are while Shippou runs up to them. Her question is answered when Miroku and Sango appear, the monk's hand landing on Shippou's tail, then head, as he pulls himself up. Everyone watches as the tree falls away, revealing a huge dark-pink ball wrapped up and supported by tree roots. Menomaru thanks InuYasha, saying, "My father Hyouga, after losing the battle with your father, was trapped in this land. Your brother, Sesshoumaru, couldn't break the spell. The only fang that was able to do it was yours, Tetsusaiga." Menomaru stabs his sword into the pink ball, and slices it while letting his blood drip down the blade and into the cut. A circle of smoke surrounds him, and he laughs while Myouga explains that it's a traditional inheriting ritual, allowing the child to take the powers of the parent and become even stronger demons. Menomaru sinks into the ball, which grows smaller as the powers are absorbed into Menomaru's body. Nearby, the two women fall to their knees, hand over their hearts, in awe of his power. Myouga says that no one can defeat Menomaru now, but InuYasha argues that his father beat Hyouga. Myouga points out that now, Menomaru has Hyouga's powers, as well as his own, and therefore more powerful than Hyouga was. InuYasha tries to attack, but is blasted back when his sword hits the ball. Menomaru says Inu can't touch him, and the half-demon tries three more times, getting blasted each time. "Don't die here, Half-demon. I have the perfect plan for killing you." Inu boasts than Menomaru can't kill him, but Menomaru ends up paralyzing InuYasha in mid-air, then sends a huge blast at the group, knocking them all back into the woods. Shippou changes into a balloon and catches Kagome in order to keep her safe. Menomaru laughs and says for everything to bow to him. A tree begins to form around him, supporting the ball high in the air where everyone can see it. Then his moths go through the villages spreading their poison and knocking people out. Their souls leave their bodies and fly to Menomaru, thousands of souls filling the sky and being absorbed by the ball, and by Menomaru himself. Kaede wonders what's going on, and one of the villagers points out the moths heading towards them. Immediately Kaede puts up a barrier which destroys the moths on contact. Kaede falls to her knees, exhausted, after the barrier falls, but is distracted from her own tired body when Kagome appears, hurt badly and carrying a hurt and unconscious Shippou. Kagome barely says Kaede's name before falling to the ground, unconscious. Sesshoumaru also destroys the moths who come near him, and tells Rin to stay back while he moves to destroy all the moths. Jaken runs forward and says that he'll do it for Sesshoumaru, then uses his staff to blow fire at all the moths, destroying them. He smiles, saying it's okay now, only to have a moth land on his face. He runs around, yelling that he can't see, until Sesshoumaru sticks his foot out and Jaken runs into it, the moth getting crushed between the foot and the face. Rin runs out, congratulating Sesshoumaru as he says that Hyouga has reawakened. In a tiny cave, moths are kept from entering due to the scrolls placed at the entrance by Miroku. Hachi, the shape-shifting raccoon, is cooking dinner, until Sango declares she's not going to sit around and wait, but is going to go get Kirara. Miroku stands and states he's going too, since "Kirara is the life of Sango." Hachi wishes them luck, then points out that since they can't fly, it's going to be difficult for them to get there, and therefore no use. Both Sango and Miroku give Hachi this evil plotting look, and the raccoon realizes what they're thinking. He refuses, until Miroku threatens to use the Kazaana on him. He transforms into his large yellow form, only to crush Sango and Miroku into the wall. The monk declares he really will suck the raccoon in. InuYasha's walking slowly, using the sword as a crutch in order to help. He ends up falling down, and Myouga offers that they should hide and build their strength before trying to attack Menomaru again. He explains that they had 200 years to plot their revenge on InuYasha, and so now Inu needs time, too. The half-demon yells that he's impatient, and throws off Myouga, saying he's going there alone. Myouga insists that he'll stop Inu, only to be slapped flat. Menomaru finally draws upon his plan to kill InuYasha, and places a leaf against his lips, blowing against it and causing a high-pitched whistle to float from him, to the one he wants to control, Kagome. Kaede asks Kagome what's wrong, and the younger girl asks for water. While Kaede's doing that, Kagome sits up, clutching her forehead and saying that it hurts. Menomaru keeps whistling, and the pendant in Kagome's forehead glows red. Kagome, dressed in miko robes like Kikyou's, stands up, surprising Kaede. But when Kagome turns, her eyes are blank, and red. Kagome's vision is blurry, and she thinks to herself that her body is moving on its own. She yells out when her body attacks Kaede, her energy causing her nails to glow and emit small blades on each fingertip, like a very long, very sharp fingernail, which she slices at Kaede with. On a bridge, Inu is stopped when he sees what he thinks is Kikyou, then realizes is Kagome. He runs over to her, smiling, and Kagome tries to tell him to run. He asks why she isn't resting, but she moves towards him and places her head on his shoulder. He wraps his arms around her, apologizing, and Kagome gets enough control to say "InuYasha... Run..." Then her eyes glow red, and the nail-blades appear. But on the other side of InuYasha, sticking out of his back. InuYasha stares at Kagome, who's pendant is glowing as she attacks. Immediately, InuYasha says that she's being controlled, and guesses it's by Menomaru. Kagome sends out small sparks at him, like mini blades, and ends up slicing a part of the bridge, causing it to break. Inu tried to wake up Kagome, while she's screaming in her mind for him to run. The bridge falls apart, and Kagome floats in mid-air while InuYasha falls. Menomaru speaks through Kagome, saying "Die, InuYasha!" as more blade-like sparks are sent at him. InuYasha jumps over to some rocks, trying to leap up to the top of the cliff and run away, Kagome flying behind him as Menomaru laughs. Inu runs through the forest, swearing vengeance on Menomaru for doing making Kagome like that. Miroku and Sango are standing on Hachi's back as they approach Menomaru's tree, Sango saying she'll have Kirara back. In his own forest, InuYasha keeps running from the possessed Kagome, only to fall after she fires more sparks at him. She swoops in closer, and Menomaru's image appears in front of her, his hands in the exact same positions as hers, showing that he is, in fact, the one controlling her. Surprised, InuYasha can't even block the blast Kagome sends at him, which knocks him into his tree. Inu looks up, only to see Kikyou again, surrounded by fire and pointing an arrow at him. But it's just a memory, as Kikyou's arrow turns into Kagome's spark-blades, which strike him in the stomach, chest, and arm. Inu falls to his knees, wheezing and blood dripping from his mouth and he says that it's happening just like last time. But that it's not Kikyou, it's Kagome. Kagome's screaming and crying in her mind, telling InuYasha to run, and that it's not her doing it. Menomaru tells her to "Kill InuYasha with the last blow!" Kagome holds up a leaf which glows pink and becomes a bow, with an arrow already strung on it. Menomaru is distracted right as he commands her to kill him, as Sango's Hiraikotsu slices through the pink ball. Hachi tells them goodbye and flys off as Sango and Miroku prepare to face off against Menomaru. Miroku says that it could be their last time to fight, and Sango tells him not to talk like that. They make their way over to Menomaru, who smirks at them as they move into a battle stance. But Menomaru's distraction lets Kagome take control over her body again, and the arrow falls as the pendant's glow fades, and her eyes turn back to normal, almost. She tells Inu to run, saying her body's not working, as her hand reaches out to pick up the fallen arrow. She keeps saying it until Inu declares, "Damn! That's enough!" Surprised, Kagome's head turns to look at him, and Inu declares that he's tired of people telling him to run, and that he's never going to run away and leave her alone. But Menomaru's coming back in control, and the pendant glows before Kagome can reply, and she is fighting her body over whether or not she'll pick up the arrow. Miroku unleashes his Kazaana, only to have the blue-haired demon open her own Wind Tunnel, making the monk have to fight against her instead of Menomaru. Sango is running over roots, and draws her sword, only to have Kirara jump into her path, the lavender-haired demon on her back. In order to keep from hurting Kirara, Sango sheathes her sword. Menomaru places the leaf back up to his lips and begins to blow again, that same tune to control Kagome. InuYasha watches, knowing that Menomaru has come back, as Kagome picks up the arrow and strings it on the bow, aiming it at him. Kagome's crying and screaming "No!" as she releases the arrow, and InuYasha's last image is that of Kagome after firing her arrow, and his last word is her name. As the moths fly around her, Kagome begins to scream and cry, forcefully taking control and causing the pendant to fall out of her forehead and shatter, and all the moths to be detroyed as the shard falls to the ground. Kagome runs to InuYasha and begs him to wake up, crying and apologizing as she hugs him. A pale hand picks up the Shikon shard, and "hmph"'s at Kagome. "How ironic." "Kikyou!" "That outfit, and this place. You're my reincarnation, so you led the same way as me." She holds out the Shikon shard. "Now take this and return to your home." Kagome refuses, and Kikyou says that Kagome doesn't belong in that time. Kagome says she can't leave InuYasha there, and Kikyou yells, "You're the one that hurt InuYasha!" Kikyou tells Kagome that the tree Hyouga was trapped in was a time tree, and Hyouga drew upon that for his power. She also explains that the God Tree is a time tree, a tree that lives through time that's completely different than their's. She says that the tree will draw upon the heat of other times periods, and all times will experience eternal cold, even Kagome's time. At the Higurashi shrine, Grandpa's sweeping is paused due to the sudden chill, and he turns to stare in shock as the blooms from the God-Tree begin to fall, tears filling his eyes as he holds one in his hands, snow falling onto it. Kagome and Kikyou arrive at the well connecting the times, and Kagome is surprised to see the vines growing from the well. Kikyou explains that the wood of the well is from time trees, and is reacting to the giant tree's reawakening. She tells Kagome that is the vines completely cover the well, Kagome won't be able to return. "But, Inuyasha..." "Go home! To the time that you belong to... You will never meet InuYasha again. Go home!!" Kagome falls backward, screaming, into the well as the vines cover the opening. Menomaru is left wondering what happened to the girl he was controlling. Kagome climbs out of the well to the sounds of her brother and grandfather's voices, and opens the door of the shrine, only to steb into ankle-deep snow, which covers the entire shrine. Grandpa is kneeling in front of the God Tree in the traditional Shinto robes, praying and asking for the God Tree to make the snow stop falling. Souta asks if it'll really work, and the grandpa says that the God Tree has always listened to them, so it should now, too. Souta, perhaps inspired, begins to pray as well. But they stop when they see Kagome standing nearby, staring at the tree, and at the image of him slumped against the tree as she had last seen him. Kagome reaches out to the tree, only to have a snowflake fall in front of her eyes, and the image wiped away. She looks down at the makeshift bandage that Inu wrapped around her finger, thinking to herself that she, and her love, can't reach InuYasha. She begins to cry as she realizes she will never see InuYasha again, and collapses to her knees in the snow, causing the other two to go to her, asking what's wrong. Back in the past, Miroku is still fighting the same woman. She closes her wind tunnel and leaps at him, then opens her now-cursed hand and presses it against his, preventing it's use. "Houshi, (Monk) You're a good man. I want to eat you." Her pendant glows, and her hand becomes ghost-like again, like it did when she absorbed the Kazaana, and she moves it down his arm and into his chest, grabbing onto his heart. He yells in pain and moves back, and she attacks him again. Meanwhile, Sango is running and hiding from her attacker, who has the help of Kirara, whom Sango refuses to fight. The cat pounces on her, and Sango just keeps trying to block her and keep the cat from biting her with the large boomerang. Finally, Kirara goes back to the pale-haired woman's side, as the woman pulls a petal from the flower in her hair, and blows on it, sending sharp blades toward Sango. Sango throws Hiraikotsu at the woman, who merely stands there and lets it pass her, then jumps on Kirara's back and flies out of the way of the falling limbs Sango cut with her boomerang above her. Kikyou is merely standing on a cliff, looking in the direction of Menomaru's tree, then her eyes move to look at the new arrival: Sesshoumaru. "I'm going to see InuYasha." "Do you hate her that much? That girl called Kagome. Or are you just testing her powers... " "I hate everything. Everything in time. Everything living..." "Do what you want, but I'm the one to kill InuYasha." Sesshoumaru turns and walks off, Rin and Jaken running to keep up as they had stayed hidden in the forest while Sesshoumaru and Kikyou spoke. Jaken asks if Sesshoumaru's sure about letting "that girl" live, and Sesshoumaru says that she is going to die soon, and that she knew it. Rin asks what he meant over and over until Jaken tells her to shut up. She says she's not listening to him, running off after Sesshoumaru when Jaken trips and falls. A bandaged Kaede is riding a miniature pony, which is actually Shippou, as they discuss Kagome's change, and Myouga offers that Kagome is being controlled like Kirara. Kaede yells that they need to hurry to the God Tree, and Shippou asks why they can't walk. "You have to respect your elders!" However, Shippou is soon too tired, and collapses in front of the well, only to stare in shock with Kaede at the tree growing from the well and blocking Kagome from ever returning. Myouga smells InuYasha's blood, and runs off to find him, Shippou and Kaede trailing beind. Everyone freezes, though, when they arrive to see an unconscious half-demon slumped over at the foot of the tree, apparently dead. Miroku is having his own troubles, and barely blocks the spear thrown at him by his opponent. But the spear which was blocked by his staff changes to a snake who bits into the staff until Miroku knocks it off. The woman catches her weapon and declares that they are going to finish it now. "Let's see my Kazaana and your Kazaana, which will win?" They both open their hands, the winds equal to the point of sticks hovering in mid-air, unsure of which way to go. Sango is attacked by the lavender-haired demon again, this time without Kirara's help, and only using swords. The woman sends a blast at Sango, and Hiraikotsu is thrown, only to be knocked off-course by Kirara, leaving Sango tired and almost defenseless. Kagome's mother comes out to give Souta and Grandpa a jacket and blanket to stay warm. She drapes her shawl over Kagome's shoulders, and Kagome begins to cry, since she feels it's her fault. Souta asks if the tree is really that important, and their mother talks about how the tree was always there for them and looked after them, through good times and bad. "To me the God Tree is... InuYasha..." Kagome's thoughts are broken when the Shikon no Tama shards begin to glow, showing that the times are still connected. Miroku is growing tired from using his Kazaana so much, and realizes he's going to have to stop soon. But the demon is apparently unaware, as she uses her spear to widen her own Kazaana, laughing when the spear is drawn into the void. Miroku tries to keep his own Wind Tunnel open, to keep from being sucked in, but then the curse of the black hole takes affect, and the demon is shocked and terrified as the hole in her hand starts to grow on its own, faster and faster, until her hand is nothing but a black hole. Miroku watches in horror as the woman is drawn into her own Kazaana, commenting afterwards that her fate, is his as well. He says a prayer for her after that. Sango's running to get to her boomerang, Kirara and the woman close on her trail. The demon tells Kirara to kill Sango, and leaps off of her back, allowing the cat to fly towards the taijiya (demon hunter), who merely turns to face her friend, and drops Hiraikotsu to the ground, her eyes closing as she cries, and waits to be hit. As Sango falls to the ground about 15 ft. away, her tears hit the pendant on Kirara's forehead, and the demon cat begins to act oddly, scraping her forehead against the ground, as the lavender-haired demon tells Kirara to stand up. Kirara runs, and begins to pound her forehead against the tree, while Sango yells for her to stop. But Kirara's pounding shatters the pendant, and Sango runs to her friend's side as the demon cat falls to the ground, her former controller staring in disbelief that she couldn't keep Kirara controlled. Angry, the woman then starts to throw spark-blades like Kagome's at them, and Kirara recovers in time to leap into the air, Sango climbing onto her back. The woman keeps attacking, and Kirara flies by Hiraikotsu, which is immediately grabbed by Sango, and thrown at the demon, who keeps firing at her. She sends a blast at Sango, who blocks it with the large boomerang, then flies by the terrified demon, Hiraikotsu slicing the woman in half. The demon starts to laugh, but then her soul is drawn from her body towards the ball where Menomaru is, and she falls from the giant tree, screaming for Hyouga-sama, and begging him not to leave her alone. Menomaru is rejoicing in his ball of energy, saying that he only needs a few more souls to be complete. Sango finds Miroku, who's tired and worn out, but assures her it's because of the Kazaana being used to much, and that he's fine. He falls to his knees and Sango kneels beside him, worried. Kikyou collapses in the woods, her soul collectors flying around her as the souls leak from her body, and she asks how many more Menomaru is going to take. Shippou and Kaede are trying to destroy the tree growing from the well in order to contact Kagome somehow, but Kaede says only Kikyou or Kagome, or someone with equally strong spiritual powers could do it. Myouga's trying to wake up InuYasha, asking if he's going to leave the flea all alone. Grandpa is still praying to the tree, Souta holding an umbrella over him, as Kagome walks over to the God Tree, facing where she last saw InuYasha. Myouga tries to get InuYasha to slap him by drinking his blood, but ends up falling off of the hanyou's face after drinking too much blood. Then, everything else is gone. Just the tree, and InuYasha. And InuYasha's eyes open. And he says Kagome's name. Kagome has her hand pressed against the tree, saying she can feel InuYasha, as eveything else fades away, leaving only her, the snow, and the tree. "Is that you, Kagome?" "InuYasha? Are you hurt? Are you okay?" "It's nothing. Why am I here?" "I came back to my time." "Keh. You got scared?" "No... it's because... It's..." "What?" "No, nothing... I didn't run away." "You're being stupid as usual." "Stupid?" Kagome's cut off, as InuYasha appears before her, exactly like she last saw him, sitting against the tree, which is somehow no longer pressed against her hand. "InuYasha." InuYasha looks up and sees her, and smiles. "Kagome... you're right here." He keeps smiling. "So what's on your mind?" "I'm not helping at all and I hurt you and... Maybe it's better if I'm not around at all." He stands up and starts walking towards her, though it's obviously painful. "Stop thinking such stupid things." Kagome runs to InuYasha, resting her hands against his shoulders in order to make him stop walking so he doesn't hurt himself. "InuYasha! Don't move! The wound will open up again." InuYasha ignores her, and pulls her into a hug, wrapping his arms around her and holding the back of her head in one hand. "I need you... Don't you understand?" Kagome tries not to cry as she thanks him, and ends up back in her own time, where she hears InuYasha tell her, "let's go, Kagome!" She races off to the well, and slams the door open, only to stare at the vines still growing from the well. She races back to the tree and calls out to InuYasha, telling him what's wrong when he answers. He tells her that her arrow will burn through the vines, and to hurry up. Kagome doesn't know where to get an arrow at first, but then sees her grandpa's un-tipped arrows by him. She grabs one, and stabs the arrow into the hole in the God Tree where she cut her finger earlier. On her second try, the arrow comes out with a bladed tip on the end. She runs past her grandpa, grabbing his bow while asking for it, and races towards the well, only to be stopped by her mother, who hands her the familiar school uniform. InuYasha is up and moving around, walking towards the well with no problem, telling Kaede and Shippou is body is a lot stronger than theirs, and that he wants to stimulate his power. He draws his sword as he arrives at the well. Kagome stands on the side of the well, arrow pulled back, then releases it into the well as she jumps in. InuYasha swings, only to have the well explode in his face as Kagome's arrow burns through the vines. Kagome climbs out of the destroyed well, and is immediately jumped on by Shippou, who's delighted to see her, and an injured Kaede, who tells Kagome not to worry about it when she notices the wound given to the older priestess. InuYasha, on the other hand, shoves the broken wood off of him and yells at Kagome, asking why she can never come quietly. Shippou calls InuYasha an idiot as the two argue, and Kaede tells the fox child that those two are always like that. But the argument is stopped when Myouga jumps onto Kagome's shoulder, and tells him that Hyouga (Menomaru) is taking in all the souls of the world, and that they don't have time to argue. InuYasha says he knows, and they take off towards Menomaru. However, the energy ball is cracking, and falling apart, revealing a huge demon. Menomaru. InuYasha attacks, but is knocked back easily. Menomaru laughs and stretches out his arms, and wings appear, with creatures flowing from them that Myouga declares are demons from China. The flea declares that the only way to win would be to use both Kagome's arrow and Tetsusaiga together. Then Myouga runs away. InuYasha starts to fight, while Kagome and Shippou cheer him on, until Inu yells for her to use her arrows. When the demons start to attack Kagome, she is kept from firing. Shippou jumps on the demon who tried to kill Kagome, and is knocked aside, while InuYasha yells for them, worried. But Sango, Miroku, and Kirara appear, and Hiraikotsu is thrown to destroy the demon attacking Kagome, as well as other demons nearby. They land by Kagome, and ask what's going on, until InuYasha yells for them to stop dozing off. Miroku uses his right hand again, sucking in any demon nearby, and tells Kagome that even if she dies, he will always remember her. Kagome: "Damn it! Don't say something like that!" InuYasha: "Of course we're going to win!" Menomaru says he doesn't think InuYasha can beat him, and Inu attacks, while Kagome follows, and Sango goes to fight some more demons. Menomaru calls InuYasha's family wimps for loving humans, and InuYasha ends up attacking again as wind wraps around Menomaru, yelling for Kagome to fire her arrow. She does so, but when Inuyasha uses the Kaze no Kizu, it only slices a large hole in the bottome of Menomaru's right wing. Angry, Menomaru fires a massive blast as the group, who dodges out of the way. InuYasha declares that he's going to use a Bakuryuuha (Not in America yet), and do 10 times the damage. Kagome tells InuYasha that Menomaru's powers are stored in his forehead, where a small yin-yang pendant had just appeared. Inu asks if she can hit it, and she tells him she'll try. InuYasha prepares to attack again, and Kagome fires her arrow, creating the wind scar. Menomaru tells Inu that the same thing won't work twice, and his claws lengthen to knock InuYasha back. But while he's looking at Inu, Kagome fires another arrow. But it veers off, and hits the top of Menomaru's left wing, purifying it and slicing it completely off, very close to the shoulder, shocking and hurting Menomaru. He fires a blast at Kagome, who falls backward off the cliff, InuYasha yelling for her, and is caught by Sango on Kirara. Inu goes to look for Kagome, and sees she's safe, but Miroku calls out to him, running over with Shippou, saying that all the other demons are destroyed. Shippou proudly tells InuYasha that he beat 3 of them. Kagome yells down to InuYasha, and they all look up, to see Kagome falling towards them, arms wide. Inu catches her, and asks why she did that. "Because I knew you'd catch me." "Catch you? You're not luggage!" Miroku watches them, then calls up to Sango, telling her to jump as he holds his arms wide, saying he'll catch her, and for her not to worry. He gets hit in the head with a piece of her armor, while Shippou calls him an idiot. Inu asks Kagome to fire another arrow, and she tells him that Menomaru is too powerful. He accuses her of wussing out, and tells her to believe in him, and fire the arrow. Kagome agrees, and aims at Menomaru's forehead while he's drawing power, Inu yelling at her to hurry until she points out that Inu's supposed to be trusting her. She fires, and InuYasha runs forward, using the Bakuryuuha to allow Kagome's arrow through, and destroying the yin-yang pendant, and Menomaru. The tree begins to sink back into the ground as everyone climbs onto Hachi's flying form, except Sango who's riding on Kirara again. InuYasha asks if Kagome's okay, and she says she's fine, then asks how he is, and his wounds from earlier. He reminds her he's tougher than she is, and Kagome smiles at him, getting a weird look in return. Then Myouga appears, asking how InuYasha could be able to defeat Menomaru. Myouga insists he knows what happened, and that he never leaves InuYasha alone. Everyone argues that he does, and one flat flea falls off of Hachi, and right into the camera as the gand flies on, starting the credits going. A few cute scenes are shown in the credits (Souta and Grandpa are sick from being in the cold so much, and Inu's peeking into Kagome's room while she's sleeping on her math homework. And Miroku's trying to spy on the bathing girls in the hot spring, only to end up with a bathing Kaede.) Back in Kagome's time, she and InuYasha are sitting beneath the God Tree on opposite sides, talking about when they were in that odd place where it was just them, and Inu said she scared him because of how she reminded him from before, when she attacked him. She offers to make him lunch, and he asks for "that yellow stuff again." "You mean the fried eggs?" "I didn't say the fried eggs." "No, you're talking about something else...?" "That was the only thing that was tasty!" InuYasha realizes his mistake only seconds later, and turns around to see a flaming Kagome. "INUYASHA! OSUWARI!" (SIT!) |
