Cabinet tweak #2, and #3.
I set the cabinet up with 6" 2 by 4's, I used the bottom of the cabinet as a sufface for the wave to reflect off of.  Below I reduce this by laying he 2 by 4's on their sides.
After the first tweak worked so well in increasing bass response, but making my wife nervous because it was just sitting on top of the 2 by 4's, I thought of going a little further and screwing everything together and standing off the bottom of the cabinet even more.  Mostly for experimental purposes, as the cabinets bass is fine.  This turned out to be way too much bass response, an it started to get very peaky, I had a peak at 87.5Hz that was very noticable(+7dbs), and the frequency response at 50Hz droped by about the same amount that 87.5 went up.   When I pull the speaker out into the middle of the room I get a ruler flat frequency response from 50 to 125Hz, up against the wall my response is less desirable, so all I can do by measurements is understand how things change the sound in a general sort of way.  By having the speakers in the same location I get a very good idea what a tweak has done, and what it would do if I were to move the speakers back into the middle of the room.
After listening and testing the 6" stand off's, I then layed the 2 by 4's on their sides for not quite half the height as before, for a new height of 3 1/2", rather than 6".  This returned the bass response some what to where it was before, but with a 3dbs rise at 87.5, and 63Hz .  Having the sides open a bit seems to allow more room interactions.  Still my depth is only as much as my rise, so if I gain 3dbs then my extention is by 3dbs as well.  The last time I did the stand tweak like this with the 2 by 4's on their side I didn't get a chance to listen to them, as I only did one speaker with a measurement.  This time they are more permanent, and I am enjoying listening to different amps with the tweak to see just how they change things.  This is very solid bass, the quality has not changed, very tight and solid.  This surprised me as this is not what I would have expected.  Next I will try stuffing them.
