The CD of the Month

My Recomended album of the month

This is the page where i put an album i really like and my review of it. Then if you think you'll like it, you can go out and buy it , or check it out from your library.(please note that the album will not always be recent, i'm a BIG 80's fan ) My Recomended cd for August is: How To Be A Zillionaire by ABC This album is from the glorious year of 1985. That's reason enuff to make a "CD of the month". But it's also jam-packed with great songs. This album came after ABC ditched a couple of members (leaving Martin Fry and Mark White) and they took on David Yaritu (the little bald guy) and Eden(the bimbo). Anyway here are a couple of my faves.
  1. How To Be A Millionaire
Now I know this was a single, and i usually try to leave out the songs you've probably allready heard, but this is such a great song, I had to include. I mean, I love all the lyrics "I've seen the future, I can't afford it" and it has loads of cool music and noises. Plus the video is so awesome! it's fully animated, and Martin Fry and Mark White make the cutest cartoons!!!!!! So every time I hear the song i think of the video. And the words are sooo true! It's like you wanna be rich, but you really don't wanna be a Millionaire cos people would bug you and wanna kill you and stuff, but it would be cool to have that much money and be able to buy anything, so it's kinda one big mess! And that's why at the end when the chorus asks: "Who wants to be a millionaire?" Mark and Martin take turns saying "I Do!!!" and "I Don't!".
  2. Sixteen Storey Halo
This song is so funny! I love the chorus :"10,20,30,40 , 15 storey halo" cos it's sung in this exaggeratedly deep macho voice. All in all this song reminds me of Cartoon Network's Johnny Bravo.:)
  3. So Hip It Hurts
Don't worry, this isn't Right Said Fred's predesessor. Actually this song is kinda humourous too. It lists vary-ing fashions and the weirdness of trends. How's this line sound to ya? "Do you remember when men wore skirts?"
  4. Tower of London
No, this isn't ABC's attempt at a goth song. I know The Tower of London is supposed to be haunted, but there is No mention of ghosts in this song. It's really a very catchy danceable song. "What's Done can not be Un-done, not here, not in london" But I love the last line the most "New York?!? Ahh- Don't Make me laugh! I've seen photographs!!" (my condolenses to any New Yawkas out there!)
So, Sound interesting? Good! Go out and find it somewhere, a friend, a record store, the library, anywhere, and give it a try!!!
