The CD of the Month

My Recomended album of the month

This is the page where i put an album i really like and my review of it. Then if you think you'll like it, you can go out and buy it , or check it out from your library.(please note that the album will not always be recent, i'm a BIG 80's fan ) Lately I've been running behind on this page, I know, but give me time, I'll catch up! My Recomended cd for September is: Savage GardenbySavage Garden I think I'd like to start off by saying that Savage Garden

Are Not

"dance-pop". I'm sorry but SG do not belong in the same category as people like Debbie Gibson and Gina G. Their album has a blend of sounds, and, while some of them are danceable, that doesn't make them teen-idol fluff. Here are a few of my faves. (one of my faves is To The Moon And Back, but you all know that one so i won't write about it.)
  1. Tears Of Pearls
This song was the B-side of I Want You, but i think it should be a single! It has great rhythm to it and i love singing along to it. It's great to dance to and has powerful lyrics. "Once forgotten, twice removed, love will be the death, the death of you"
  2. Carry On Dancing
I Love this song! As you may or may not know, Darren Hayes is a Sci-Fi fan and this song shows it! It has such an other world kinda fantasy feel to it! It's danceable but not like thump-thump-thump bass-club dancing or Tiffany Teen-bop mall dancing, but more like the dancing of a gypsy or maybe enchanted beings like elves or fairies or even ghosts! This song just takes me away! It's right up there with "Love Song" and "Wrapped Around your Finger", songs that take you away from the hustle of 1998 and back to a forgotten time.
  3. Santa Monica
This song is a nice slow pretty song. About how you can be many different things at once. You can be a brain or a beauty or an athlete all at the same time. It's a really pretty song and SG performed it on Hard Rock Live."Cos on the telephone line I am any age i wanna be, i can be a cape crusader or spacer invader, and you wouldn't know the difference, or would you?"
  4. Brake me Shake Me
Ok. if the other 3 songs wouldn't convince you that Savage Garden are not dance pop than this one sure as hell will. This song is full of raw emotion, hell, it's almost punk! There's guitars...and it's not a dance song...feeling ...power...emotion....Oooooh, it's got everything!
As you are probably convinced by now, Savage Garden are not dance pop and this album is well worth the money. The whole album is good, except for a song called "Universe", which is kinda boring, but you romantic types might like it. Any way, this one great album!

Go back to the entrance back to the guide my Wonderful gallery!a feast for the eyes! Have Fun! And remember "Brake me, shake me, hate me, take me all the way, when the madness stops, then you will be alone." D.Hayes, D.Jones
