Wed May 13th Regular SOC Meeting at the Pyle Adult Recreation Center 7:30 PM in the Yuma Room. Ed

May 16-17th See Canyon Homes Work Weekend. David and Pete will be heading up to their cabin in Christopher Creek for a weekend of work around the cabin and/or the common areas in the neighborhood. Cabin lounging or dayhiking is also a possibility. Contact David or Pete if you would like to join them. David or Pete
May 21-23rd Rim-to-Rim Hike. Terry and Ray are planning a rim-to-rim hike from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon to the South Rim, timed to coincide with the spring opening of the North Rim area. They will ride the shuttle bus from the South Rim to the North Rim, and hike back. Contact Terry if you would like to join them. Terry

Jun 5th Mesa Planetarium Open House. The Planetarium on the Mesa Community College campus at Southern and Dobson will be having an open house, with shows beginning at 6:00 p.m. Telescopes will be setting up for viewing from dark until 10:00 p.m. Contact Wayne for details. Wayne

ONGOING EVENTS

Week Day Hikes Day Hiking During the week. Every Tuesday morning and occasional Thursdays. For those Day Hikers who may have a day off during the week or who are retired or otherwise available to hike during the work week. Contact Charlie or David to hike with the "Idle Aristocracy" of the SOC. Charlie or David

Canoeing & Kayaking Floating the Salt. Ed wants to float the Lower Salt on the weekends if there is any interest and sufficient water flow. Tube, kayak or canoe. Contact Ed if you're interested. As the parking policy changed in 2007, you will now need to purchase a Tonto Daily Pass ahead of time. See a description of the new parking permit at Pass Options. Purchase permits online at Tonto Passes or find a vendor near you to purchase the permit at Vendors. Ed

2nd & 4th Wednesdays of month SOC Meeting. Pyle Adult Recreation Center, Southern and Rural, Tempe. 7:30 PM. Ed, (480) 921-3821.

Occasional Thursdays. Scottsdale Art Walks. Occasionally meet at 7:00 PM in Old Town Scottsdale for a stroll around the galleries, enjoying the exhibits and goodies laid out. Ed, (480) 921-3821.
