Katiuska and Misky didn't live with me for more than 2 years.
During that time their first daddy decided they would be best taken care of by him.
Not true! I always visited and spent time with my two girls when I knew their daddy was out. The day came when I was finally able to purchase my own house, that was on December 15th, 1995. Of course, I wanted both of them back with me. Surprisingly enough, their daddy gave me a hard time granting me the right to have them. I begged and I begged for the privilege of at least having one of them with me. To my surprise, Katiuska was the one returned to me in January of 1996, after a long and sad 2-year separation. When he brought her over, she was very scared and confused. She hid under my bed for about 15 minutes. I kept talking to her until she finally realized it was me, her mommy. She was finally home!! She loved the house although it was pretty much empty of any furniture. Luckily enough the empty house slowly became a home. The home of a single mom! During the first weeks of her living with me, we were still getting to know each other all over again, there was one very touching moment . I was sitting on the blue director's chair watching television when she jumped on my lap, crawled up on my chest buring her tiny pointy face in my hair. She stayed there totally relaxed for what it seemed to me a moment frozen in time. I knew she was reaching out to me and somehow letting me know she was happy to be with me again and that she had missed me. I did not want to move afraid she would go away, therefore, I just pet her very softly. For the longest time Katiuska was my only companion in the house. She quickly got used to my work schedule and would wait for my return home from work, sitting patiently at the stair landing. Every Saturday morning I took her out to the backyard or walked her around the grassy area around the house (on her leash). She was quite well known as the cat on a leash! In the meantime, I kept begging for Misky's return. I didn't know then that it would take two (2)more years to be re-united with my little Misky and seven (7) months for Jason and Snow to come into my life. |
