Welcome to my very first Christmas WebPage!
This has been a year of a lot of interesting twists and turns...some
happy, some sad, some scary. God has blessed me in many ways, though and
that is what this site is about!
As I think about the year, I see how easy it is to overlook all the
wonderful things that have happened to me...Along with all the great
experiences were some very scary moments that overshadowed all the
blessings. I am grateful beyond words to those who stood with me and
helped me through my own overwhelming fears. Mom, Lori, Robin, Gina,
Allen and Dr. Van Leeuwen - God Bless you!
And I thank God for just being. In all of this pain there is always
something to learn and I know I miss the lesson sometimes, but now
writing this I think I have found that there is sometimes more joy that
comes our way than we allow ourselves to see, until we look back.
Following are highlights from the year for anyone interested in detail
(or who may want to see where they were mentioned!) I hope I will be
forgiven for anyone or anything I may have neglected to mention...Its
all in my mind and heart even if its not in my words.
Everyone have a wonderful Christmas and year 2000 (may we all survive
the turn of the century!).
Love and God Bless!!!
Helen Jo
PS....And a very special thanks to Gabrielle at TurtleBug graphics for this fabulous page as well as the Christmas card and Improv ad!

THE ANNUAL AIR SUPPLY RANT
My summer was highlighted by two fabulous Air Supply concerts and I want
to thank Air Supply (and their booking agents) for returning to the
tri- state area...I was going into serious withdraw. Singing with Sherry
and Lori the Swanee Birthday song to Russell and Graham in Kettering,
Ohio was both terrifying and wonderful. Many thanks to Lori, Sherry,
Bobbie and Angie for dragging me out of the bathroom when I suddenly
started having a nervous breakdown just before we sang (go figure -
after doing hundreds of these singing telegrams I suddenly got scared!).
That evening was without a doubt one of the most memorable of the year. |
THE DAY OF THE NEW SAMUELS!
At long last, Two of my good friends, Sandy Dossey and Bill Samuel tied
the knot this spring and it was wonderful!! I felt priveliged to have
been asked to be the soloist at the ceremony...After a few bumps in
getting the OK on the order of the songs Bill and Sandy wanted and
securing the fabulous accompanist, all was ready and the day was a
blast! All the bridesmaids looked fantastic and the TSO men all looked
dashing in their suits! I do apologize for not providing photos to this
portion of the page - but seeing as how I am me, it should come as no
surprise that I seem to have misplaced my photos!! At any rate -
Congratulations Bill and Sandy!
ROLLER SKATING IN FANGS

What can I say? Avenging Disco Vampires was a blast to be a part of (and
I do mean that literally considering the demise of my character- Hot
Wheels!). Never in all my imagining would i think that I'd wind up as a
Jive-talking blood sucker who ran around in roller skates! Jarrett and
KC, it was a pleasure tormenting you in the truck! Daniel, Andy and
Chris, Thank you for giving me such a fun role! Bill - you're the best
Boom Man there ever was! Jennifer - I'm so glad we got to work on this
together- thanks for letting me crash in the jeep! And to the rest of
the cast and crew - Lets all work together again!!! |
CHEESE IS GOOOOOD!!
Meeting the Sunset Players family and becoming a part of it was one of
the best things about 1999! Thanks for taking me in and entrusting me
with a pivotal role in "Picasso". I regard this show as my favorite so
far that I have done. To my fellow Schmendimites - take it STRAAIIGHHT
from the horses mouth - there is only ONE true genius who ever lived and
it wasn't Picasso and it wasn't Einstein! Here's to the 20th century! -
I mean the 21st Century!! | |
DRIVING OVER THERE
 | The weekly trek to my old stomping grounds, NKU every Monday to meet
with this crazy bunch called "They Drove Over Here" is always a
highlight. I will miss the members who have joined us and then moved on
- Allen, Dawn and Kathleen - In the same way I am looking forward to
working with the newest folks: Thomas, Irvetta and Nicole! Brian has
done a great job of getting the gears in motion for getting us on stage
again - Denise and Christine are always keeping us on track with CROW
and SIDE...Together we will all make this improv group shine in the
Queen City! Thanks, Christine for getting us on TV! |
THE ODD COUPLE
My first show with Drama workshop was a fantastic and fun show and I
hope to work again with this group in the future! I enjoyed working
again with Scott and Tim, being the dingy sister of Wendy Rogers, and
learning how to face stage left when there is audience over that way!
Everyone made this show great! Dan and Don played off of each other so
well as Oscar and Felix! And, hey, Tim - guess I will see you in the
nuthouse! | |
USS NIGHTMARE
I once again joined the cast of this yearly river haunting to sit with
those cute little rats in the cage...I wish I had been able to
participate a bit more - But my circumstances were a bit rocky during
this years run. I hope to one again be on top of things next year...As
always I find myself looking forward to this gig every year as the
weather starts to change I hear the rats calling to me and I must don my
peanut butter covered dress and black body suit.
TEACHING and BEING A TRASHED BIMBO
My current project is learning how to teach youngins about music and
musical theatre productions. In the spring I will be appearing in Sunset
Players production of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo Nest"...As a drunken
prostitute named Candy Starr...I guess you all know that isn't much of a
stretch since by nature I am quite the drinker of ill repute! (sarcasm
alert for any long-distance family members!).
