HISTORY

Colosseum, was a jazz/rock band from england in the late 1960s. Jon Hiseman, Tony Reeves and Dick Heckstall-Smith had recently departed (August 1968) from John Mayall's Bluesbreakers attempt at jazz/blues fusion, and decided that they wanted to continue in this musical direction, and take it a step forward. With Dick Heckstall-Smith (sax) Dave Greenslade (organ) and various guitarists (Jim Roche, James Litherland, Clem Clemson), Colosseum was a band that could handle both jazz and rock equally well.

The initial version of Colosseum lastest from 1968 to 1971. A different version of the band got together a few years later. But since I never did get into that version of the band, they are being left off this page.

I have listed all the albums that I am aware of that were original records of the band (but not any compilations), but only listed 45s where it didn't look like the tracks had been released in any other format.

Comments and corrections would be appreciated.

And of course, any audio-video-print additions to my collection would be appreciated.

I am also interested in getting wider exposure for this site. So links from your site to mine would be appreciated. And if you know of any sites that allow/encourage submission, I would also appreciate knowing about them as well.
