I tried my hardest to get my friends hooked. My obsession became so extreme that at one point I started to cut the TV Guide bits out about the show. "Canwest Global: 6, 41. Monday, 8:00pm. Pacey confesses his true feelings to Joey, and Jen and Dawson try to untangle their lovelife. James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes." Unfortunately, very few of my friends thought the teen-drama was worthwhile; and those who did never remembered to watch it.
I starting paying my sisters 10¢ for the pictures of Michelle and Josh in their Teen Bop and Teenstreet magazines because I had spent all of my money on the seventeen with Katie on the cover. Some of my friends starting giving me funny looks when I asked if I could "rip out this page" of their magazine. "It's only an ad on both sides!" "Why do you want it then?" "It has a teeny-tiny 1cm x 1cm picture of James Van Der Beek in the bottom corner!" And despite the fact they had no use whatsoever for the ads or the picture, they denied me of it, just because. Maybe they really needed that page though....(yeah right!) I can't remember how many times I was told they didn't want pages ripped out of their YM, just to see them pluck out a pic of Leo for the locker shrine.
Oddly enough, I haven't seen any of Kevin Williamson's movies (I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream, Scream 2) although I indeed intend to! I also have sympathy for Michelle Williams because I bet a lot of people hate her because they think she is like her character, Jen Lindley. I strongly dislike Jen, and I don't say hate because I think her independent nature and decision-making skills make her a teeny bit okay. I think the execs did an incredible job of casting for the show. The actors (and actresses) really portray the characters well. The characters are well developed, too. To be honest, I did not think that under any circumstances, Dawson and Joey would get hooked up this early on in the show. Now don't get me wrong, I happy that they did, but a reasonable amount of interest in the show was based on their so-called non-existing relationship.
It is inevitable that they will break-up, because now the show is focused on them. Even a substantial death took a back-burner to the fact the "The Decision" was made. And admit it: you thought Jen was going to be on the dock watching Joey and Dawson make-out in the finale, didn't you? I know! Everyone did. But was your eye keen enough to notice that Dawson glanced at Joey's breasts TWICE in the hotel bed? Sure you did. Keep telling yourself that. Well, that's my persopinion. Hope you liked it. If not, e-mail me and complain, or post on the posting board, or sign it in my guestbook. Good-bye for now.
