June 6. In 1944, this date was D-Day, one of the bloodiest days of combat ever. Perhaps, then, it served as an omen for the events of June 6, 1998. For it was that evening where a young Yid named Mike & a young Goy named Matt first met. And the world shuddered.

World: Shudder

But, (un)fortunately, throughout sophmore year, the two had almost no outlet for their wacky &...truly disturbing outlook on life. The only people witness to the early routines that would comprise the Mike & Matt Show were the unfortunates in Ms. Maturo's 5th period Chemistry Class. Most of these people have blocked out the memories though, and deny any knowledge of said events.

Note: Current research suggests that the current SGA president's views may, in fact, have been warped during his time observing the DJ's. Their frequent use of the phrases "Mah-maAH!" and "Look at me, I'm rotund!" would seem to confirm this hypothesis. We now return you to your regularly scheduled web page. Vote Quimby.

It was a cool fall day the next fall when the following conversation was recorded for posterity:
Mike: Hmm. Piazza can't cohost a radio show.
Matt: Hey, I'll do it.
Both: Cool.

And so, the school sponsored insanity began.
Click here (eventually) for the original audition skit, penned by Matt and mangled....PERFORMED by the duo. Um, not anytime soon, folks. Sorry. --Matt

And thus was the Mike & Matt Show born. Over the course of the first season, the plucky young lads achieved several firsts in tjRadio history:
--The first playing of Dr. Demento, Jason Mewes, and Weird Al
--The inaugural appearance of the Britney Spears poster
--The first instance of driving another DJ insane (for the records, it was Ruth of RockReview, via the Pokemon theme song)
--The first singalong barbershop trio (Ted, Mike, and Matt on "We Put the Spring in Springfield")
--The now-popular bashing of boy-pop bands
and many, many more. All too soon, though, summer came to TJ. And so, the boys bid Ted a fond farewell, and retired for the summer.

The next fall, at the tjRadio interest meeting, this conversation was recorded for historical content.
Matt: So, do we have a show?
Ali Ahmad, station management: Sure. You guys are one of a couple of shows to come back, so you automatically get a show.
Matt, Mike: Score!
Ali: So, when do you want it?
Mike: Are Wednesdays or Fridays at lunch taken?
Ali: Friday, yes. Wednesdays are open, though. Want it?
Mike, Matt: Yeah!

And so was the Mike and Matt Show reborn for a second season of insanity. Using the skills that they honed over 3 years, and featuring an expanded supporting cast (Alton, Ilsa, Diane), the boys are back in town, baby!!!
