THE BIG LEBOWSKI
Jeff  “The Dude” Lebowski (Jeff Bridges) is a man who appreciates the simple things in life. A white Russian drink, the occasional joint and bowling with his two buddy’s Donny (Steve Buscemi) and Walter (John Goodman)

But when two guys break into his house looking for him about debts owed by his wife Bunny, his life takes a turn for the worse. But he explains to the men that “No-one calls me Mr Lebowski, I’m the dude”, and that he isnt married. Turns out they were looking for the millionaire Jeffery Lebowski, The Big Lebowski.
So when the dude goes to see Lebowski (the big one) to get some compensation for his rug that was pissed on by the guys, he gets shown the door and branded a bum. But when his wife, Bunny, is kidnapped he wants the dude to handle the negotiations. Throw in a bunch of German Nihilists and you’re on your way.

Since I started watching the Coen Brothers movies this has quickly become a firm favourite of mine (and Ada-Padz too) The comedic acting of everyone involved and Jeff Bridges hilarious constantly stoned facial expressions are brilliant. John Goodman gives a career best performance as the pshycotic Vietnam veteran friend of the dude. Steve Buscemi is great as the dim-witted part of the equation, who is constantly insulted by Goodman.
The Dude
The most interesting scene in the movie comes during The Dudes dream sequence in which Saddam Hussein works in the greatest bowling alley on earth. With women in skimpy Viking uniforms and mile high shoe racks. All accompanied by Kenny Rogers and New editions great track: “Just dropped in (to see what condition my condition was in)”

And who could forget the Brilliant John Tutturo in a small ensemble role as Hispanic bowler Jesus Quintana, although he is only in two scenes, he shines through as one of the funniest characters in the movie.
Walter
Another interesting point to note is the time setting of the movie, 1991 gulf war era, which gives Walter plenty of opportunities to go off on rants about war and his friends “…dying face down in the mud”

Another small role is that of the cowboy, who is kind of the opening and closing narrator of the movie, and is played greatly by all dads favourite Sam Elliot.

This really is one of those movies I never tire of watching. See it if you haven’t already.
