| Versus DVD Review (Japanese Region 2) By Yodasnoog Film: For a full review click here… Picture: The picture quality is great; maybes could have been a little better, but it still beats the shit out of the bootleg version. The film has also been giving the anamorphic treatment for those of you with wide screen TV’s Sound: A nice and clear 2 channel mix, really worth watching through a sound system. Extras: Audio Commentary with stars and Director Birth of The Dark Hero: Making of Versus Part 1 Nervous: Versus side story Trailers Now although this looks like a great bunch of extras (and they are) the main problem is, they have no English subtitle option. Only the film itself has subtitles. The making of documentary is still a very interesting watch, even without subtitles. The best/worst part comes when Tak Sakaguchi is rehearsing a scene where he has to load a gun with his teeth, and ends up chipping half of his tooth off. Then someone super glues it back on, in true low budget style. The “Versus side story” is a short film involving the two cops from the movie, which I’m sure would be hilarious…if it had subtitles. Verdict: A great disc for a great movie, just a shame about the lack of subtitles on the extras. But we still have to be thankful that the movie itself has subs, most likely due to the cult following the movie had in the west because of the bootleg. Bring on Versus 2… |
