ARAM

One of the five sons of Shem and Faatin; and a  grandson of Noah. Aram's syblings include Asshur, Elam, Lud and Arphaxad. Aram was the eponymous founder of the Aramaeans (Gen. 10:22-23, 1 Chron. 1:17). Traders and nomads, they eventually occupied the lands between Syria and the Arabian border. The dynasty founded by Aram lasted until 732 ©, frequently warring against the northern kingdom of Israel. Aram's kingdom was brought to an end by Tiglath-Pileser III, King of Assyria. Elsewhere, biblical figures named Aram are mentioned in the genealogies of Abraham and Jesus. "Aram" also represents the Old Testament name "Ram."
