A timeline of the the 2002 Olympic Games at Salt Lake City, USA:

February 9: the pairs short program. Jamie and David skated on their program titled 'Jealousy' and at the last part, fell on the ice. They took the situation humorously. Their fall did not affect their results because the final pose was not a required element.
February 11: the pairs free program. During the warm-up, Jamie and Anton accidently collided and Jamie suffered mainly from a pain in the stomach but still managed to deliver the famous routine with David. After skating to a flawless and perfect 'Love Story', Jamie and David drew a standing ovation from the public but received deceiving marks. They won the silver medal before the Russians, Yelena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze, who took gold. Clearly, the Russians had made a technical mistake during their program and many became outraged at the results. Jamie stood on the podium, tears in her eyes.
[side note: I am not here to accuse or bring hate to the Russian couple, Yelena and Anton. I personally believe that they are great and two of the most talented skaters of the world. I only wanted to point out the judging error *smiles*]
February 12: Jamie & David and Yelena & Anton make a surprise appearance at the Olympics Plaza, where the Olympics medals are awarded for other sports categories. Jamie and David were also interviewed many times about their silver medals and hardly had any sleep. Canada's Olympic delegation also filled a demand for investigation.
February 16: the IOC president, Jacques Rogge, announced that two gold medals will be awarded to Jamie and David, thus making them Olympic co-champions with the Russian pair. The French judge who was found to be at the center of the controversy, was suspended.
February 17: after the original dance of the ice dance competition, Jamie and David received their gold medals, in company of Yelena and Anton who already had their gold medals around their necks. The Russian and Canadian national anthems were then played. Friendliness and joy were in the air and on the ice.
February 22: the figure skating exhibition with the Olympics medalists and others. Jamie and David received an encore after their appearance. The couple finished the exhibition with Yelena and Anton. The four skated an impressive death spiral together.
February 24: Jamie and Sale were chosen as the flag-bearers for Canada during the closing ceremonies.
