November 1999 | Southern Harmony was awarded the "Absolutely Positively Wellingtonian" award by the Mayor of New Zealand's Capital City for notable achievements by members of the public. Wellington is the city where Southern Harmony lives. Local, everyday citizens have independently nominated Southern Harmony for the award. A committee evaluates the achievement(s) and presents the award to those found worthy.. The award will be presented, to Southern Harmony, by the Mayor in his council Chambers on 1st March 2000 |

Won the New Zealand Men's Barbershop Open Grade Gold Medal at the 1999 New Zealand Association of Barbershop Singers Inc (NZABS) Annual National Convention and Competitions in Rotorua, New Zealand. |

a 4th Place & received Bronze Medal in the MNBA America
Young Men In Harmony Collegiate Quartet Competitions at the
International Barbershop Convention held in Anaheim, USA They are the first Non-American Quartet ever to win a medal at this competition. They are also the first New Zealand Quartet in any grade to win a medal at the Annual International Competitions. |

August 1999 | Placed 2nd at the Wellington combined mens and womens barbershop quartet competitions. |
September 1998 | Placed 1st in the New Zealand Association of Barbershop Singers Secondary Schools YMIH Barbershop Quartet Competitions held in Auckland New Zealand. This gave them the NZ Secondary Schools Gold Medallists title after only singing together as a quartet for 7 months. |
May 1998 | Placed 2nd in the Wellington Regional Secondary School Young Men In Harmony (YHIM) Competitions and qualified them to sing at the National Later the same year in Auckland. This silver Medal award was won after only singing together as a quartet for 3 months. |
February 1998 | Were introduced to Barbershop Quartet singing at Rongotai College and decided to form into a quartet just for fun. |
