Possessed by the traditional Norse black metal of the early-to-mid 1990s, vocalist / guitarist Raum formulated PYRE during 1997. Fellow guitarist Atridiel would participate in early works but relocation to Europe ended this working partnership. PYRE would subsequently be brought up to strength with the inauguration of the rhythm section Carnivean on session bass and Megiddo on drums / backing vocals. The demo “Luciferian Dark Age” was cut in April 2000. This material would later re-surface in 2001 through Black Blood Productions as a split album shared with Germany’s Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult. During the course of the next 3 years, compositions were created and recorded for the full-length “Behold A Pale Horse”. After many delays that commonly plague the underground, Black Blood Productions issued the CD in February 2005. With its sweeping expanses of cataclysmic black speed and desperate moments of epic miserableness, “Behold A Pale Horse” is a fist in the face of pretenders and a manifesto against a sea of soulless clone bands.
