In 2006, We moved to a new house (built in 1895) with
plans to rebuild our Soo Line Layout.
It turned out to be a
little harder than expected. The stone foundation revealed to be in need of major repairs.
The foundation walls were dislocated. We had to tear down the entire foundation and rebuild it keeping the ancestral
look above ground.
This became the opportunity to enlarge the basement and make room for a
larger new Soo Line layout.
Above is the future train room. Up to ground level is a 14 inch
thick concrete foundation.
Above ground is the visible stone foundation.
We are currently finishing the interior. More on
this later
Progress on the layout will be shown in this page as they come.
