Greetings. I am Sonya Dave'.
I
am currently a fourth year graduate student at Vanderbilt in the
physiology department. I work in the lab of Dr.
Kevin Strange. My career goals are to become a medical researcher, particularly studying neurological disorders. When I am not doing my lab work, I enjoy being with my friends, hiking and other outdoor adventures, reading, and volunteering in the community. Throughout my life, I have hiked up and down Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon, virtually every common trail of Yosemite, and many small hikes around the beautiful greenery in my current home, Nashville TN. I've also gone skiing and snowboarding many many times, boating, and spelunking (thats a technical name for cave exploring). I've “flown” a plane once, though not entirely by myself by any means. Bryce canyon is the most beautiful place in the country and I really want to go again. As I said, I enjoy reading as well, mostly biographies. Biographies provide me insight into someone else's experiences and allow me to appreciate the world. Small victories and Center Cannot Hold stand out as books that I've enjoyed, and learned from. But, I could list many more. Much for the same reasons, I have really enjoyed the movies Black, Dare to Love, Beautiful Mind, and West Side Story. I keep myself very busy with my research for graduate school. However, I still very much enjoy volunteering with National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) and Shade Tree Clinic. I feel a lot of passion for what I do with NAMI and for issues related to mental health. I enjoy volunteering, I feel I am doing something worthwhile, and I am learning a lot. Meanwhile, others benefit from my service. It's win-win :). Contact me at: AIM/Yahoo msngr/google talk: Sonyadave Last
