Snow performed on Electric Circus on Dec.1, 2000 and he was interviewed by the host Nadine Ramkisson after the performance.
(Performs “Everybody Wants To Be Like You”) Nadine: Oh my God! Give it up one more time for Snow. Oh Darrin, I gotta give Darrin a big hug. This is my boy, my boy man. Darrin how long have we known each other? Snow: (Sings) Long, long, long time. Nadine: That is the Darrin that I know Snow: I got you a present! Nadine: A present! Snow: See, I’m a good man, you know what I’m sayin. Justuss I love you, Justuss, Justuss… Nadine: Six more artists, six more presents. Just kidding. Snow: (heavy Jamaican accent) Come on girl, when you gonna pay attention, come on girl. (Nadine shows off a Snow T-shirt) Nadine: We’re gonna wear this and everybody wants to be like Snow. Thank you very much, I’ll wear this well. Snow: You can get all that stuff on the what? On the web right? Nadine: You’re starting that whole line and doing that rapper thing you know what I mean? What are you starting here? Snow: No, we put a couple of them on the web www snowontheweb. We sell hats and key chains and all that kinda stuff, you know what I’m saying? For the people, for the fans and that’s all. Nadine: No that’s cool. That’s all!? That’s good! Darrin! Darrin! Snow: I’m doing the thang. Nadine: Ok, let’s talk about back in the day, we’re talking about this guy who has broken…. Snow: (toasts) Informer, you no say daddy me Snow I’ll go blame, a licky boom boom down. Nadine: Oh, my God! We’re talking…now that single is in the Guinness Book of Records, for what? What did it break? Snow: The biggest reggae single in US history Nadine: Right and what else? Snow: That’s all Nadine: No! I think the other one is for the longest standing in the charts Snow: Yeah, the biggest, longest standing for reggae single in America ever Nadine: Ever! Ok so what have you been doing? I know you’ve been having some time off to have a family Snow: Family, I just had a daughter, she’s six now. She’s on the album her name’s Justuss. I took time off, spend time with her. Gather my thoughts and got rid of some stuff I was doing. Re-focused and came back, did this album and now I’m more focused. So it’s like shhh, I’m ready to do it again. Nadine: So you built your own studio, you’ve been working in it, what’s been going on there? Snow: Well, April here (points to her in the crowd) she grew up with me all my life, since I was this big (points to his knee). Our friend Robbie, who I grew up with too. We wrote the album together in my own studio. So it’s good to have Justin Gray and everybody. Tyson, Paula, (???). So just doing my thing. Nadine: When Darrin first came on the scene everybody was like “Come on what do you mean he’s not Jamaican” I mean this guy is rapid fire toaster…..toasting. Seriously that’s what they were calling you the toaster man. What is your background? Snow: I’m Irish, Irish and Scottish. My dad’s Irish and my mom’s Scottish. Nadine: So tell me how did this all start Darrin? Snow: Where we grew up there was a lot of Jamaicans and everybody mixed. So I was getting into the reggae music there. I was into rock and roll heavily when I was younger and then I got into reggae when I was fourteen. Nadine: One more thing, as a singer you’re making the transition into acting. You were working with Robert DeNiro and those people in New York, what was that like? Q-tip and who else? Snow: Q-tip, Mary J Blige, Elvis Costello. I did a movie that comes out in April called Prison Songs. I played a prison guard, so you know I can play that one well. Nadine: Yeah, yeah and then you’re gonna make another hit song
out of that one. Snow: Snow on the web dot com. (raps to a person on the computer) You typing that up, typing, typing, typing that up on me. Nadine: Plans for the New Year’s Snow: I’m doing a show on New Year’s night at….. Nadine: 108, I’ll be there on boxing night. Snow: Ok, I’ll be there, I’ll do a couple of songs, blah blah blah Nadine: You can also check him out on DV8 London and there’ll be more dates that we’ll be getting out to you. But check it out on the web site, on where Snow will be performing. So this is the song that made Snow what he is today, he is the man, this is “Informer” on EC. (start to play Informer video, after 30 secs. They cut to Snow performing Informer) Nadine: Oh my goodness, give it up one more time for Snow! Not one, but two performances. Quite unexpected, but this is live TV. Darrin, Snow come here we gotta tell everybody good bye. Thank you so much for coming down here today! Snow: Thanks for having me. I wanna wish everyone to have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Don’t drink and drive, never drink and drive. Don’t even drink, just drive you know what I’m sayin. Justuss I love you.
