Standard Disclaimer Applies Forest Walker Epilouge by:Lazuli Usagi was so happy to be with Mamoru again. She had spent so much time with Unmei, who had healed her. Unmei...who had died because of Usagi, or so Usagi had believed at first. Then she had heard Mamoru talking, telling her of the story of the young girl. She began to understand more. She also realized, with a start, that she must be...dead. She swallowed uneasily. Mamoru wouldn't be crying and talking to a grave for nothing. "Mamoru...what are we going to do now? I mean... I've never been dead before...so..." Mamoru tried to keep from laughing at that. "Usagi....I hope that you have never been dead before! It will be just the same as before for you, love, except that you will see nobody, save me, unless more people come through the forest. I hate to say this though, Usagi. Ever since you were found in the forest, people claimed it was a place that breeded madness into people, and they will not go near it anymore. We might be alone with eachother for quite some time, love." Usagi snuggled further into his embrace. "I spent almost a year trying to get back to you, to this forest. I do not want to leave it anytime soon. I don't want to be around anyone but you for a long time, Mamoru." Mamoru smiled and kissed the top of her head. He at last had Usagi. The years seemed to be filled with love for Usagi. She didn't realize the reason why she stayed here with Mamoru, why they stayed in the forest at all, but she supposed there was some reason. Mamoru's house had been destroyed. He had saved everything that he could, but his purpose for staying in the forest was gone. There was nothing more of his family's to guard. Perhaps it was to wait until there was life brought into the forest once more. One day, Usagi happened to spot a girl in the forest, and she ran to tell Mamoru that there were people in the forest once again. She wanted to greet her. Usagi had gotten used to the silence of everything but Mamoru and nature quickly, but the thought of seeing someone else filled her heart with happiness. She and Mamoru watched her carefully, and were surprised when another group of people came up. "Mama! This is the perfect place to settle! I'm sure of it!" The couple nodded. "It is fine. We could settle in this empty spot...not have to worry about clearing away any trees at all. Have the Miyasaki's come yet?" The woman asked. The man shook his head. "Not yet. I'm sure they will be here soon, though." Usagi leaned her head aganist Mamoru's shoulder and smiled. After almost a hundred years, life was being brought back into the forest. A sudden tap on Usagi's shoulder made her turn around quickly to see Unmei there. Usagi turned around, surprised. She had not seen Unmei since that day when she had brought her back to Mamoru. "Usagi, Mamoru...I have a deal for you. How would you like to experience life again? You have that chance now that the forest is finally freed of the old nightmares of the past." Usagi and Mamoru could only stare in shock. Have the chance to be reborn? Mamoru looked at Usagi. He didn't want to lose her. He held on to her fiercely. "I don't want to be reborn if it means leaving Usagi behind. I want to be with her in our new lives." Unmei nodded. "You would be. That is why I come to you while you are together, so that you can go at the same time. Mamoru, you would be born into the Yumenei family, while Usagi would be reborn into the Miyasaki family. You will find eachother again in life. I promise you." Usagi looked up at Mamoru, who still had a protective hold on her. "I will do it, if it means I can live out my life with Mamoru." She whispered. Mamoru nodded his consent also. Unmei smiled. "Good-bye, Usagi. Good-bye, Mamoru." Sixteen Years Later Usagi Miyasaki swung higher in the swingset that her papa had set up for her when she had just been a little girl. She loved the feeling of flying, like she was free as a bird. She went up as high as she could go, and then to her utter terror, her grip loosened, and she felt herself truly flying off the swing. She closed her eyes and waited for the unforgiving ground to slam into her, but instead she was caught in a strong pair of arms. She looked up to see a pair of dark blue eyes of Mamoru Yumenei. "Hello, Usagi. So we meet again." The End! What did you all think of this? Feedback? Please?
