Here is a new idea of a SM fic. It's an Alt. Reality, okay? I hope you enjoy it. Sailor Moon does not belong to me. It belongs to Naoko Takeuchi and Toei Animation. Forest Walker by: Lazuli Chapter One Usagi brushed back a strand of her blond hair and sighed. She didn't even know why she was going through this stupid thing. Maybe to prove that she had more brains than these mindless bimbos with nothing more than clothes and boys on their minds? She had agreed to become a member of the major group in school so she could attend some of the more mind-stimulating events, but this group had a certain endurance test to pass. She adjusted the straps on her gear and moved it into place. She heard that not many girls stayed in school after going through this. They arrived home, there were no tales of girls vanishing in the woods, but they were simply not the joyous little bubbles of happiness that they were before. Serena smirked. Maybe that day or so "roughing it" so to speak had calmed them down some, and they didn't act like wind-up toys. She didn't have to worry about that. With one last look at the girls clustered into a tight knot at the edge of the forest, she saluted them and walked off. Aiaka smirked as she watched Usagi saunter off into the forest. The little girl would be getting what she deserved in there. Showing up at the school, with *no* clue how the social circles worked. Trying to make her way into one of the most exclusive clubs. It just wouldn't do. Usagi didn't belong with them. As she walked away with her group of friends, a strange thought came to mind. "I wonder if she belongs anywhere." Usagi was thinking almost the same thing as she wandered through the quiet forest. She felt at peace her. Like she belonged here and nowhere else. It was so comfortable, and there was no one about to look at the way she dressed or talked. To correct her for being with the wrong group or shove her toward the "popular" one. She relaxed for the first time in a long time, just letting the peace of the forest wash over her. All she had to do was spend a week in the forest, making it from one end then back again? That seemed fairly simple, as long as she marked her trail properly and didn't panic at every little sound. She decided to walk as far as she could before the sun started to set, then she set up camp. She was just leaning over the fire when she heard a sound nearby, and her head snapped up, her eyes alert for any danger. She knew that there were no large wild animals about in a wood this small, but there might be other hidden dangers and Usagi did not want to run into any of them, personally. She didn't spot anything and she went back to her meal, which was slowly cooking over the flames. She stared out at the silent forest, a contemplative look in her eyes. There was something unique about a forest. How it could hold so much life in it....it was brimming with it. She checked her food, and finally proclaimed it done. Her first day was almost over with the "trial" for her. She wondered if she would have the time to study the forest before the week was up. With that thought in her mind, she crawled in her tent and was fast asleep. Mamoru wandered by the camp in the forest, his eyes widened in surprise. Campers at this time of the year? He looked at the simple campsite and concluded it was one person. He smiled. Maybe he would get a chance to meet this person tomorrow. It was too late to make introductions now. He sauntered off into his own part of the woods and waited for the sun to rise. He would finally have some company in here. Usagi woke in the morning to the sound of someone walking outside of her tent. She started in fright, then realized that even though the bimbos at school used the woods as a "testing" area, there were other people who used the woods for camping, too. She cautiously peered out of her tent to see a man walking by, and she squeaked with surprise. He turned at the sound, and Usagi found herself looking up into a pair of deep blue eyes, that had an apologetic look to them. "Sorry! I didn't mean to be prowling around your camp like that. I was just surprised to see another person here. My name's Mamoru." Usagi recovered her wits enough to crawl out of the tent, smiling at Mamoru. "I'm Usagi. I take it there are not a lot of campers out this time of the year?" She asked with a grin. He nodded, and she gestured at her humble campsite. "Why don't you make yourself at home while I get ready?" She asked. "I'd be happy to share breakfast with you." Mamoru nodded, and Usagi left him alone with his thoughts. A genuine smile appeared on his face, something that hadn't happened in a while. He suddenly didn't mind campers at all.
