Breaking the Shell

As the series progresses we learn more about Trowa and we begin to see he is a very considerate, helpful and kind person. He helps Heero fix Heavyarms in preparation for his duel against Zechs after seeing Heero in such a weak and tired state. He even volunteers to take Heero's place to fight Zechs as he is worried about Heero's condition. (At that particular moment, Trowa's condition wasn't too good either) But he was stopped by Noin who told him to care for himself for a change! But Trowa's ultimate sacrifice would be his life to save Quatre and Heero. Quatre had been affect by the Wing Zero's cockpit system (Zero System) and had become insane, killing everyone and everything in sight, even attempting to kill his old comrades. After a long duel between Heero and Quatre, Trowa sacrifices himself to block Heero from the powerful twin buster rifle of Wing Zero. This impact along with a most wise and touching "final" speech shocks Quatre back into sanity as he had thought he killed his close friend.

Trowa also loses his memory after the impact of Quatre's blast mentioned above. He was thought to be dead, but was in fact... well floating around in space... ^^; And it is then when he meets Catherine realises that she is his sister, and he returns to the circus to live a much happier life. There we see a very different Trowa. A somewhat emotional and weak one. But, Trowa does not stay in the circus for very long. The war has not ended and he is still needed. And after the colonies and the circus was attacked, he once again realises his duty and re-enters the battlefield, where he truly belongs.  (Interesting point, from memory, Trowa regains his memory when he pilots Wing Zero in an attempt to save the colony. It is the zero system that restores Trowa's memory for some reason I believe).

Another interesting point worth mentioning, Trowa also has a somewhat strange sense of humor. There is only one time in the entire series which he laughs out loud with appreciation and found something to be funny (Even Catherine, who was cooking some soup for them at that moment, heard Trowa's laughter and says to herself she has never heard Trowa laugh so happily before!). This was at a comment Heero made. (Heero had just self-destructed his Gundam while he was still standing on the platform in a previous battle, and was left in a bloody mess on the ground, thought to be dead by everyone. Trowa rescues him and with Catherine, takes care of him and nurses his wounds at the circus until he recovers. (Yep, Heero actually survived... I guess he just can't die eh?) Trowa then says to Heero, it seems there is no alternate method to battle OZ (Reasons mentioned elsewhere in this profile, this takes places before Trowa's "final performance") and he considers doing exactly what Heero did (Self-destructing). Heero in turn responds calmly without any signs of emotion, "Let me warn you, it hurts a lot") Hm... If that's the type of "joke" Heero cracks, that does say something about his sense of humor eh? And it says alot about Trowa too, if he laughs out loud in appreciation at it... ^^; [Yikes! If he was RL person, I'd stay away from him ^^ But then again Trowa is too fine to stay away from....
