THERE MUST LIGHTS BURNING BRIGHTER , SOMEWHERE. GOT TO BE BIRDS FLYING HIGHER IN A SKY, MORE BLUE. IF I CAN DEREAM OF A BETTER LAND WHERE ALL MY BROTHERS WALK HAND IN HAND, TELL ME WHY, OH WHY, OH WHY CANT MY DREAMS COME TRUE. OH WHY. THERE MUST BE PEACE AND UNDERSTANDING, SOMETIME. STRONG WINDS OF PROMICE THAT WILL BLOW AWAY THE DOUBT AND FEAR. IF I CAN DREAM OF A WARMER SUN WHERE HOPE KEEPS SHINING ON EVERYONE TELL ME WHY. OH WHY OH WHY WONT THAT SUN APPEAR. WE'RE LOST IN A CLOUD OF TOO MUCH RAIN. WE'RE TRAPED IN A WORLD, THATS TROUBLED WITH PAIN. BUT AS LONG AS A MAN HAS THE STRENGTH TO DREAM, HE CAN REDEAM HIS SOUL AND FLY.. DEEP IN MY HEART THERES A TREMBLING, QUESTION. STILL I AM SURE THAT THE ANSWERS , ANSWERS GONNA COME, SOMEHOW. OUT THERE IN THE DARK. THERES A BECKONING CANDLE. YEAH. AND WHILE I CAN THINK, WHILE I CAN TALK. WHILE I CAN STAND, WHILE I CAN WALK. WHILE I CAN DREAM. ILL BE FEELING MY DREAM. COME TRUE..... RIGHT NOW!!! |
The following are words spoken by the late Red Skelton on his TV program as he related the story of his teacher, Mr Laswell, who felt his students had come to think of the Pledge of Allegiance as merely somthing to recite in class each day. Now more the ever, listen to the meanining of these words.............. "I've been listening to you boys and girls recite the Pledge of Allegiance all semester and it seems as though it's becomming monotonous to you. If I may, may I recite it and try to explaineto you the meaning of each word?" I-me, an indivdual, a committe of one. Pledge--dedicate all of my worldy goods to give without self pity. Allegiance--my love and my devotion. To the flag--Our standard, Old Glory, a symbol of freedom wherever she waves, there's respect because your loyalty has given her a dignity shouts that freedom is everybody's job. United--that means we have all come together. States--individual communites that have united into 48 great states. Forty -Eight individual communities with prideand dignity and purpos; all divided with imaginary boundries, yet united to a common purpose, and thats love for a country. And to the Republic--a state in which sovereign power is invested in representatives chosen by the people to govern. And govermont is the people and it's from the people to the leaders, not from the leaders to the people. For which it stands--one nation, meaning "so blessed by God" Indivisible--incapable of being divided With liberty--which is freedom--the right of power to live one's own life without threats, fear or some sort of retaliation. And Justice--the princable or quality of dealing fairly with others. For All--which means, boys and girls. it's as much country as it is mine. Since I was a small boy,two states have been added to our counrty and two words have been added to the pledge of Allegiance..UNDER GOD. Wouldn't it be a pity if someone said that is a prayer and that it would be eliminated form the schools too? GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! |
