DeSalvo Case Facts Many believes that DeSalvo is NOT the Boston Strangler but convicted murderer George Nassar is.This theory is brought up because during the time DeSalvo was locked up in the mental institution to see if he was sane to stand trial for the numerous rapes he confessed to have commited,he was locked up with Nassar day and night. It's believed that Nassar made a deal with DeSalvo:if DeSalvo confessed to the Strangler murders(since he was more than likely going to spend the rest of his life in prison for the numerous counts of rape)that DeSalvo's family,in return, would get the reward money. DeSalvo joined the Army at 17 and was stationed in Germany-where he was honorably discharged in 1956 DeSalvo was charged with molesting a young girl when he returned to the United States from Germany, but the charges were dismissed After DeSalvo's first child was born,he was arrested for theft twice but was released on suspended sentences DeSalvo was also charged at trial with the crimes he commited when he was known as the "Measuring Man;"this was when DeSalvo would go door-to-door of women's homes that he found the woman to be attractive,he would then tell them he worked for a modeling agency and then would take their measurements while fondling them in the process.DeSalvo was brought up on these charges in 1960(which was when DeSalvo was being held for suspicion of burglary,he confessed to them);he was given 2 years in prison for these charges but he was paroled after 11 months. It's believed DeSalvo raped over 300 women, but he claimed over 2,000 women The reason DeSalvo was never tried for the Strangler murders was because there was no physical evidence linking him to them;his lawyer also made a plea bargain with the court that if they only charged DeSalvo with the rapes he would plead guilty for a life sentence without parole. Prison officials as well as DeSalvo's psychiatrist believe that DeSalvo was murdered because he was going to come forward with information on whom the REAL Boston Strangler is,because, according to the psychiatrist(the last time he saw DeSalvo)stated that DeSalvo was saying he was fed up with the whole Boston Strangler thing. When DeSalvo was 7-years-old,he witnessed his father hit his mother(breaking all of her front teeth, and then later witnessed his father break his mother's fingers, snapping them one-by-one DeSalvo had five siblings;he along with two of his sisters were sold to a slave farmer by their father for $9.00 each At Mullen's crime scene,a New Year's greeting card was found wedged between her toes on her left foot DeSalvo's father taught him how to steal at a very young age,and also made him watch him have sex with prostitutes he would bring home DeSalvo met his wife while in Germany;when he was honorably discharged from the Army,he brought her back to the United States with him DeSalvo had two children:daughter,Judy & son,Michael DeSalvo was subjected to proverty at a young age, because of this,he went out an prostituted himself(he lost his virginity at 10 to a male for money) A psychic(Peter Hurkos) was brought in to help during the Strangler murders At the time of DeSalvo's final arrest, when he confessed to the Strangler murders, his reward for arrest was $110,000 While imprisoned for the final time,DeSalvo and two other inmates actually escaped;the two other inmates were caught at a cocktail bar while DeSalvo had phoned his attorney and turned himself in at a clothing store. DeSalvo's killer is still unknown till this day |
