BRENNAN FIELD

Romeoville, Illinois

The Will County Cheetahs of the independent Heartland League brought pro baseball to the outlying area southwest of Chicago for the three seasons of 1996, 1997 and 1998. They played their games at Brennan Field on the campus of Lewis University in Romeoville, just north of Joliet. The league eventually folded and the team jumped ship to the Frontier League, becoming the Cook County Cheetahs (now the Windy City Thunderbolts) and opening a new ballpark in southwest suburban Crestwood. Pro ball ultimately returned to the Joliet area with the coming of the Joliet JackHammers of the Northern League and their new ballpark, Silver Cross Field, a new anchorpiece in the revitalization of Joliet's downtown area. But in the meantime, Lewis University's Brennan Field benefitted from a few remodeling touches over the course of these pro baseball seasons.

Classic wooden grandstand in an idyllic setting.

Mostly bench-type seating.

New dugouts were part of the ballpark remodeling.

Every seat has a good view of the action.
