Maybe the only ballpark with 600 purple seats. Sharp contrast to the 47,000-seat football stadium down the block.

The fans brave the chill of the spring breeze off Lake Michigan, just a couple blocks away.

The ballpark is part of a larger sports complex. Flags representing the Big Ten Conference baseball teams in the respective school colors are spaced along the outfield fence, with the American flag at straightaway center. Northwestern's flag is always hoisted just to the left of the American flag (towards the first base and home side of the field) and the opposing school's flag is always flown just to the right (towards the third base and visitor's side of the field).

Across the street behind third base is the village of Wilmette and one of its residential areas; a foul ball hit over there lands in the next town.
