ILLINOIS FIELD

Champaign, Illinois

This University of Illinois ballpark was used for professional summer baseball for one season in 1994. The Champaign-Urbana Bandits were members of the independent Great Central League along with teams in Lafayette, IN; Minneapolis, MN; and Mason City, IA. The league lasted just one season with Lafayette winning the championship (no playoffs).

The grandstand seating capacity is listed as 1500 while lawn seating provides space for up to 3000.

The trees at the cemetery across the street from the left field fence provide a natural backdrop.

All seating is in the form of bleacher benches without seat backs. All of the seating is protected by the backstop netting.

With the stadium situated right at the dividing line, a home run to right field lands in Champaign's twin city of Urbana.
