THE CIRCLE
As the summer sun fades into the night sky
and night closes in like a hawk
with its eerie cry
mother earth once again covers us
with her cloak of darkness
and the full moon rises up into the night
its then.. the circle of stones
appear in the moonlight
casting ghostly silver shadows
of an ancient monolithic might
We stand and gaze you and I
in silent prayer
where mankind first stood.. so long ago
under the same starry sky
And.. as the sun's first rays of light
send scurrying away the fears of night
we stand inside the circle
at the rising of the dawn
as the morning sun.. once more..
pierces through the center stone
on this sacred.. midsummer's morn
Who knows the secret that lie therein
now silently observing the world
of mere mortal sin
