Sunday, September 18, 2005 - Hot Air Baloons at Goreme, Love Valley

We woke up early today and climbed up a hill overlooking Goreme to watch the sunrise and to see the hot air balloons taking off. We later walked again through Pigeon Valley up to the city of Uchisar that sits up on top of a hill.

From there we continued walking through the White Valley that led to Love Valley, the one with many phallus shaped forms.

In the afternoon we went to the Open Air Museum, where we saw 1000 years old churches, Nuns Convent, Monks Monastery with old frescoes.

Hiking in Turkey during September is great. It is safe, the weather is pleasant, the views are amazing, the people are kind, orchards and vines are loaded.

With fruit that nobody picks, but there is one problem. The Turks do not hike, so the trails are not marked or maintained and there are no good maps.

Well, the Interenet Cafe is closing up, so we must say good night.
