Monday, September 12 - Taking the Dolmush to Kahta

Aziz comes home with four new guests. One Canadian girl and three Polish boys. Annie is traveling alone. We will meet them later in Mt Nemrut. Quick breakfast, tomato, cucumber, black olives, goat cheese sour dough bread and tea.

Hugs and kisses to Farida. Aziz takes us to the bus station, otocar. We take the dolmush to Kahta. The ride taked four hours. Along the ride we stop to drop and pick up more passengers. The dolmush is full, but the driver manages to sit more people. He has small wooden stool under the seat and he put it in the isle. Many men in the east are wearing the traditional pants. We pass many tobacco fields. We will spend the night in Kahta.

We were planning to continue to Karamut, but Kadir, Aziz’s friend? met us at the bus stop and convinced us to stay at his place, Karragene Hotel. “I am a business man, my home is your home”….sure.

We take a ride to the Euphrate River and dip our feet in. On the way back the mini-bus stopped, no gas. We walked back.

We bought vegetable at the market and I cut salad in the room. My mouth was burning. What seemed like a familiar red pepper was hot pepper. Benny had fever, 37.5. His lips were swollen with sores and so was his face.
