Saturday, September 10 - Going to Haran

Benny’s face looks awful. My Benny is a little spoiled: The bed is not comfortable, the pillow is too hard, no toilet paper, the food is awful, the house is not clean, we have no privacy….

Aziz is taking us to Haran, the city where Abraham stopped on his way to Canaan. It used to be a large city. It is very poor today. People still live in beehives mud houses. We saw old castle, old school, and many ruins. The Seljuk ruined the city. It used to be a center for moon worshippers. We are 15 km from the Syrian boarder.

Back in Urfa, Aziz takes us for another walk through the fascinating bazaar, we go through the old city, narrow streets, old churches that were converted to mosques, endless bazaars. We also visited his friend’s home that has a nursery on the roof.
