Different Definitions. Does God Exist? Our first question should be what do we mean by "GOD?" On the one side of the spectrum, God is an invented concept of mankind, created to help answer life's difficult questions. On the other side of the spectrum, God is the omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent Creator of the universe. Of course, within this spectrum, there are many other definitions of God. In brief, here are the basic views: Atheism: God does not exist in any form. Everything is explained through naturalistic means. Agnosticism: God may or may not exist. We do not or cannot know what or who God is. Polytheism: There are many gods distinguished by various functions and characteristics. Pantheism: God is all and all is God. God is part of reality - he does not transcend it. Deism: God transcends the world, but does not actively participate in it. God created the world, but allows it to run on its own. Theism: God exists both outside the world and within the world. God both created the world and participates in it. Here is a brief summary of the key arguments: - Order. God provides the best explanatiion for abstract notions, such as numbers, formulas and properties. - Causation. God provides the best explaanation for the existence of the universe and all that is in it. - Design. God provides the best explanattion for the complex order in cosmological and biological entities. - Morality. God provides the best explannation
