HENNA

Starring Rishi
Kapoor, Ashwini Bhave, and Zeba. Mono. English
Subtitles. Video quality is stunning, among DEI's
best transfers. Colors are sharp and well defined and
free of digital artifacts. Mono audio is fine and
without any noticeable distortions. "Henna" is a very
interesting love story between Kapoor and Bhave,
which is complicated by Kapoor's amnesia as he is
found unconcious in Pakistan due to a car accident.
The resulting tensions between the villagers and the
lost Indian are further enflamed by Zeba and their
resulting romance. The music is memorable and very
nicely picturized, particularly "Main Hoon
Khushrang." Definitely Recommended.
SHAHRUKH KHAN
DHAMAKA
Non Stop Shahrukh Khan Dhamaka (Vol 1) produced
and marketed by DEI. Compilation of some of Shah Rukh
Khan's greatest hits from his films. 22 songs. The
audio for the first 5 are in outstanding 5.1 Dolby
Digital. The remaining 17 are in mono. Video is
mostly superb, especially the selections from
"English Babu Desi Mem," "Pardes," "Dil Se" and
"Trimurti." As usual, DEI has supplied some cool main
graphics. Particularly the venetian blind graphics
that close and open as one song ends and the next one
begins. This DVD collection is also available by
EROS/B4U. As is the case with "Parinda," stick with
the higher quality version done by DEI. Highly
recommended.
2 HOT TO HANDLE (2000). Song compilation DVD released by DEI. Starring Hrithik Roshan & many other stars. 22 songs from DEI's recent releases; taken from Kaho Naa.. Pyar Hai, Bulandi, Godmother, Krodh, Baaghi and others. All the songs, except for the 2 mono songs from "Godmother," are in superb 5.1 Dolby Digital. Video quality is top-of-the-line since most of the selected songs are taken from their recent anamorphic DVDS. This is probably the highest quality compilation disc that has ever been released. Standout songs include: "Ek Pal" from KNPH with its message of living each moment to the fullest as the future is unknown and which features great choreography and dancing by Hrithik. "Ek Kabhi Do Kabhi" from Baaghi as a sexy Manisha struts her stuff for the camera; and "Dil Ne," also from KNPH. Recommended.
