Time Rankings For The Nintendo 64

February 25th, 2005-- Added some more of Evan's time, a 2:56 Hoth, 6:42 Defection, 2:11 Assault and a 1:23 Imperial Construction Yards. Not a bad batch, his best time by far though was a 1:28 on Taloraan, which ties the record and eliminates one of my untied ;) Great job Evan! I knew you could do it! Evan breaks 54 minutes in total time. I also improved the Sullust record by a full five seconds! It stands at 1:12 right now, which is faster than the PC version or the N-1 record. I think it can be taken down by another two seconds though. One second until the 49 minute mark, two to beat it! February 24th, 2005-- Fixed a couple of errors and also updated my time on Sullust to 1:17, which is the current record. I lost at least two seconds on just the generators though so I think it can easily go down further. Perhaps later.... Seven seconds more and we'll have broken the 49 minute mark! Evan also got a time of 1:24 on Construction Yards. Logan West: 8 Untied Records, 3 Tied Sweet Monkey Love: 4 Untied Records, 3 Tied snoozer: 3 Untied Records, 3 Tied February 22nd, 2005-- Evan's two new times, 1:29 on Imperial and 1:33 on Sullust are both pretty good, warranting a fourth and second place time respectively! I also got a time on Sullust but not nearly as good, only tried it a couple of times and got a 2:10. This takes my time ranking to my goal of second place! Don't you be trying to take me over again Evan! ;) February 20th, 2005-- Logan West took down the Imperial Construction Yards time to 1:19 and thinks it can definitely go to 1:18 eventually. He's not going to try it any time soon though. Nine seconds left to go! He also got a "better" time on Moff Seerdon's Revenge which puts him in third for overall time, regaining his position from Evan and then some! February 17th, 2005-- I achieved a 1'28" on Battle Above Taloraan. This is still 9 seconds away from the PC record though. The level drives me nuts because of the randomness of some of the tanks and how they decide to blow up (I.E. NOT blow up). I'm not very good at this level in my opinion though so I think Evan could take the time down further perhaps. I also improved the current record on Construction Yards by a second. Unless I get super lucky and don't have to worry at all about those missile launchers....I'm not going to get much better. I think it's a fair time though and takes the overall time down to 49'10" for the site! Not bad! Soon we'll break 49'00", I just know it! I also fixed a couple of things, such as adding in Evan and I's total times (didn't update it last time) and Evan now is listed as 1st place with 5:28 on Fest, instead of first and 5:29 on Fest ;) Improved my Assault time by about 30 seconds as well. One time that I missed (Evan's 2:20 on Assault) has been added, as well as two times of my own more recently, 1:43 on Taloraan and a measly 2:41 on Assault. Mason Wright gains 2 positions in the overall ranking, if he only had times submitted for every level he'd easily beat his arch-rival: Abel Martos-Lopez. I would say if he even submitted a time for the Death Star Trench, it would put him at least a few minutes ahead of Abel ;) *hint hint* February 7th, 2005-- Well, it's another update and Evan has really been showing some nice moves. First off, a nice third on Sullust but more impressively, he holds the new record for Battle Above Taloraan, shaving off the old one by 8 seconds. This brings the Record Board's total time down to 49:16. Will it ever go under 49 minutes flat? I think so, but time will tell. Congratulations Evan on your first ever "real" record! He also takes fourth place in overall time. As a side note, this also places me in first for record count(!). Great job Evan! January 5th, 2005-- It's been even a longer time since the last update! We've a new member: Evan Jankowski who debuts in an impressive 5th place on the time rankings Good luck to him and I hope he continues to compete and improve his times! Many of his times are very decent. Looking forward to improvement! September 13th, 2004-- It's been a long time since an update! What with moving two families, eight wild fires in the area, a camping trip and multiple "others" I've been extremely busy! Not even a chance to play ANY game in the past few weeks. I've got the stats. Nick Kerton moved from 27th to 24th, Jeremiah managed to hold onto 16th despite another movement from a player, and Mason Wright submits more times and moves from 20th to 13th! Hopefully I'll score at least another one or two records soon. S'all for now! August 23rd, 2004-- Well, I took down the total time by another measly second. I was shooting for at least 4 or 5 seconds (utilizing a cutscene skip) but as of yet haven't perfected the precognitive timing required. I hope to get it eventually though. As it was, I improved that level's time by a second anyway with a 4:12 on Blockade on Chandrilla. August 22nd, 2004-- Jeremiah Martin improves three times on the first the levels, and also submits a new time for Imperial Construction Yards. He moves up to 16th place. Nick Kerton submits one time for the N-1 on Assault on Kile II and I'd like to say welcome to the newest member! Mason Wright of California joins the bunch, submitting times for the first five levels. He joins in 20th place. Keep at it! August 18th, 2004-- Jeremiah submits four new times, enough to take him up to 18th place from his former 22nd! I also was playing today and tried and tried to get 1:46 on Death Star Trench with the N-1 and yet didn't succeed. I don't know if it can be done or not. I managed also to beat the previous N-1 record for Prisons of Kessel. It now stands four seconds lower, at 7:02. It can definitely be done better! August 17th, 2004-- Both Jeremiah Martin (GameXpert) and Nick Kerton (cartfan2003) were added. Welcome Jeremiah! May your times improve! And welcome back to the fold Nick, remember that no game enhancing devices are allowed okay ;) Nick adds some Death Star Trench times (with both the X-Wing and N-1) and Jeremiah submits some times for Ambush (X-Wing and N-1) and Search. Once he gets all the Golds, his times must surely improve rapidly! I hope that he knows that a fast time run doesn't have to be a Gold run..... August 16th, 2004-- Whoah! There was a day I didn't do at least one update! That's a new one! I talked to SML in the afternoon today and while I had thought that the level was maxed out (I mean, the commandos can't get out of the shuttle before it lands right?) I was going to try at least one more good run before I quit that level completely. SML said that he definitely didn't think that the level was maxed and that in order to get a better time, one had to shoot the trigger enemies as soon as possible after they appeared. I tried it this evening and it worked! The commandos actually DO come out of the shuttle before it lands, they come out as soon as the trigger enemies are downed! Needless to say, I practised for a while and eventually took the time down to 6:59, which I was happy with. Except for the third trigger, I think I did everything just as fast as could be done, and that third was just a hair slow. Honestly, I think *crosses fingers* that 6:58 is just about the max, and that's with precognition and perfect seeker kills and everything. We'll see if someone manages to beat that. snoozer now has 5 untieds, Sweet Monkey Love has 4, and I have 4. August 14th, 2004-- I got to play a little in the evening and managed to tape a 1:47 N-1 Death Star Trench, and a 1:54 X-Wing Death Star Trench, didn't get a second 1:53 though, in the couple times I tried, which doesn't surprise me, I must have unlocked my s-foils at just the right moment. Thanks to some info from snoozer, I managed to lower my Prisons of Kessel time by over a minute and eventually tied the World Record which is now jointly held by SML and myself. I managed to defeat every trigger before the shuttle landed on that run, so I'm positive that is as low as it's possible to get; Unless of course killing some of your own commandos and prisoners might help...I tried that though and it didn't seem to. Oh, and I do have that run on tape. I've learned my lesson now! snoozer now has 5 untieds, SML has 4, and I have 3. August 13th, 2004-- I know this is getting repetitive but I thought this deserved a special report. Encouraged by my tie of the N-1 record on Death Star Trench, I decided that it would be worth a shot to try to lower my X-wing time by a second and tie that record also. I had a 1:55 at the time. I had a couple of failed runs (one I rose too high at the beginning and another I crashed right at the start (nicked the corner) etc. Then I got a pretty good run, cutting corners nicely and got to the end and unlocked the s-foils and dumb-shot my torpedo a little before the exhaust port came into sight and it was right on target! I felt certain that this would be my 1:54. The screen came up with a 1:53! I was dumbfounded! I had just finished telling my brother that I didn't think anyone would get below 1:54. And I didn't use that custscene skip glitch even though I tried a few times the other night, still can't figure out how to make it go in. Anyway, I was excited and from now on I'm taping, perhaps SML will convert them for me if I send them to him. Oh, and we're under 49:30 now :D August 13th, 2004-- This is bordering on lunacy. I added the links that snoozer gave me, changed some names around, messed with some details on Rogue's Gallery, and also added my new Death Star Trench time with the X-Wing, and my N-1 time for the same level, I tied the N-1 record and I honestly don't see it going down any further without the use of a glitch or trick unknown to me. Also added my better Search for the Nonnah N-1 time. August 13th, 2004-- Hmmm, just realized that it was Friday the 13th...... Anyway, I made minor changes in the tables on the individual ranking pages (mainly to make it look nicer on smaller screens) and also updated Rogue's Gallery! I still have some addresses to fill in and I'd like to get everything a lot more filled out if at all possible, I'll try to do some investigating and questioning in the next few days. So....that's what's up today! August 12th, 2004 (later)-- Updated my new Search N-1 time, deleted one of Greg Jolin's times that was on the normal chart of Jade Moon but he had made with the N-1, and eliminated three persons from the Rendezvous rankings that I had forgotten to :D They never actually stated they had 5:19! August 12th, 2004-- Keep the news rolling! I added up the times for everyone that I knew of who had their name on the site. On a side note, I have no way of verifying the integrity of my calculations, they stand as they are and if I've made a mistake, it's up to you, the players to tell me about it. Next job is to re-make the roster page. I'd like to do something with points, but right now I don't have the means to make anything automated, although for the moment, there is so little activity that it would be no trouble to do everything manually. I'll see if I can whip something up, then next I should probably rank the N-1 total times and maybe a point ranking for that etc....... Lots of ideas, no time. And as an interesting sidenote, snoozer now has 5 untied records, SML has 5, I have 2, Nighthawk has 1. The other 5 are tied by two or more. August 11th, 2004-- Gosh this is a lot of news! I guess you are allowed to do that when you are the only one active on the site though..... I had decided this morning to get better on my Rescue on Kessel time, since I had 0:24, along with maybe 5 other fellows. One of us surely ought to get 0:23! I ended up tying my old 0:24 with a bad run, then I got a 0:23, then a 0:26 with a run in which I had to turn back and hit the last car again! I knew then that I could tie the record. After about an hour of failed attempts in which I would always get all but one of the cars, I finally got a completed run, it was a 0:22. But I knew I could do better. I kept at it and over the next half hour got a handful of 0:22's. Then finally a decent run and a 0:21. I believe that 0:20 might be possible if everything was done flawlessly. At least if it was using my method, perhaps mine isn't the fastest. Anyway. That's the news for today! And I e-mailed all the members of the sight that I had the addresses to, hoping to get some more activity. I got 7 failure deliveries right off the bat. Oh well. August 10th, 2004-- I never thought there could be so much to talk about in such a short amount of time, but as promised, I am reporting a 0:33 achievement on Ambush at Mos Eisley. I just sat down for about 20 minutes today, got a bunch of failed runs (a dozen) and a 0:34 or two, I was beginning to think that it might be impossible (for me at least) but then got a really good run combining lots of desperate strategies and 0:33 popped up on the screen! I took some pictures of it which should be available soon, I'll post the links on the message board. Unfortunately I did not tape it, I didn't think I'd get it so soon. Not that I have any means of converting from a VHS tape to a digital format anyway :P I'll probably do a write-up of my full strategy before I forget it. And in other news, I corrected an error in Wes Pipkin's Death Star Trench time (I had given him 9 seconds more than he deserved) and corrected an error in Matt Leto's Raid on Sullust N-1 time (I needed to give him another 40 seconds unfortunately for him). And things are looking sunny! I'm encouraged by my success! And the [probably] short debut of my name on the records page! August 9th, 2004-- Well, the final unveiling is just about ready, there are some things that I've thought of in the meantime that I've been fixing up, I changed my own name on the rankings from ShadowN64 to Logan West (just to make it more like competing against a real person) and I added Doug Hoyer to the rankings of Rescue on Kessel! Doug ties with about 5 or 6 others for third place, which isn't bad. Some day one of us is going to get 0:23 and then all us third placers are going to drop down to fourth. I also worked on a few times, mainly my N-1 time for Ambush and Death, and also on my X-Wing time for the latter. Then, feeling very good, I decided to try to get 0:33 on Mos Eisley (V-Wing). Man! I have gotten a half dozen 0:34's but not a 0:33 in sight yet. If I do get it, of course it will deserve a news write-up ;) I hope my dusting off my copy encourages you to do the same with yours! August 6th, 2004-- Whew! It's been a long time since there was any update! This page was never meant to be the main rankings, it was more of an experiment when I was first beginning to learn html but now that Zyos has followed in the footsteps of the dinosaurs, and the Dodo bird, well, I guess my page is the most up to date. It never looked great though. With a little nudging from snoozer, some help from my brother, and a bit of spare time, the page has received a facelift and is now ready for action! I've also been working on an Excel spreadsheet that will calculate point rankings more easily and in the same format as good old F-Zero Central. R.I.P. Please offer suggestions or comments as to the "new" layout, I know it's still not looking professional but at least it's a start, at the very least, at least I know that the html is clean! Perhaps someday......but there. I shouldn't go making promises. snoozer has promised to give me more links to his Rogue Squadron site and related material.
