... due South
Shorts
On the Radio
Written for the livejournal community ds_flashfiction.
This piece was a response to the documentation challenge.
It is an interesting view on a 'day in the life' of Fraser and
RayK. (PG, language)
...In
A Can
Another story
written for ds_flashfiction. This was in response to the naive
Fraser challenge. Once I
got the idea, I couldn't help myself. Fraser learns something
new from an unlikely source. (PG, hint 'o slash)
Runway
A short character piece from RayK's POV. Fraser and Turnbull have
a bad day and Benton learns a little about his partner. (PG,
language)
Welsh
in Blue
Another short character piece, this time
from Lt. Welsh's POV. Sometimes you just have to feel sorry for
the guy having to put up with Fraser and Vecchio. My first
Vecchio story! Woo! (G)
Bonding
Turnbull POV. RayK and Turnbull do some bonding in their
underwear. No, not like that! ;) (PG,
language)
The
New Guy
A dialogue story that I posted to my livejournal.
What
would a new person's reaction be to the insanity that is due South? (G)
It's
in the Eyes
A piece I did for flashfiction's Cliche
Challenge. It's a transgender story. Poor Ray has to deal
with a female Fraser. (R, sex)
Lie
Because Your Heart is Breaking
A challenge response for the flashfiction's Mendacity Challenge.
Ian MacDonald returns during season 3 and finds that Fraser's not
as believing as he used to be. (PG, pre-slash)
Pink
Satin
Yet another flashfiction challenge response. This one was the Footwear
Challenge. This is a rather sad piece. Fraser and Ray
search for a missing girl. (PG, language)
Being
Home
Flashfiction One Night Stand Challenge. Crossover with
Hard Core Logo. Beta by Justacat (R,
language, slash)
Five
Minutes After... Bob and
Caroline join the great beyond
Five Minutes After Challenge on
flashfiction. At
the end of "Call of the Wild", the Due South series finale, Fraser's
dad's
ghost is reunited with his mom, but what happend next? (PG,
hint
o' slash)
Easy
Riders
A short ficlet that came to me one day
driving home. RayK is amused by Fraser and their predicament. (PG,
language)
A Cheeky Story
Chicago Holiday Challenge.
Trouble at the water park for Ray and the Mounties, and of course
it's all Turnbull's fault. (PG, hint o' slash)
Bedtime
Story
One night in #discourse, lynnmonster
wrote us all a bedtime story on the fly. A couple of nights
later, she wasn't feeling up to it and I gave it a shot. It came
out a lot longer than I realized. Anyway, here are the adventures
of Little!Ray Kowalski. (G)
The
Cop and The Mountie
My dear friend heuradys recently
had a birthday. I wrote her this little Welsh and Turnbull
adventure. These two together amuse me to no end.
Hopefully, I'll write more with them. (PG, hint o' slash)
Another
Departure
I read a great story by silverakira
called Departure.
As I was reading it, I suddenly saw the scene as I would have written
it. I couldn't stop myself from writing out my own version of
Fraser and Kowalski saying goodbye at the airport. By all means,
read Zira's version too, or hell read all the stuff on her page.
It's worth it. (PG)

Ficlets
Recently, there was a rash of short specific stories posted on
quite a number of Livejournals because of a ficlet challenge
meme. Basically, you post that you want challenges and people
respond with a character or pairing plus a short sentence of dialogue
that must be incorporated into the story. I've done a number of
these for my friends. Most all of them are due South stories.
Cunning

This was written for sister_wolf.
She requested Fraser/Kowalski: "Possible? Are you saying my logic
is flawed?" (PG, slash)

all of them." (PG, slash)
Shopping

your eyes!" (PG)

The Fantastic Adventures of Renfield Turnbull
Formerly known as the Fantasy Life

they take place in the same fantasy universe and eventually start
overlapping.
The
Skeleton Key
Key Challenge. Turnbull finds himself in the world of Pirates
of the Caribbean! (PG, violence, language)

Turnbull to the rescue! (PG)

Longer Pieces
Brother's Keeper (137
Kb)
This story was inspired by my Season One
DVD's. Dean McDermott plays a bad guy in one of the episodes.
Later on he became the goofy Constable Renfield Turnbull a
semi-regular character on the show (and one of my favorites). I
was surprised that there aren't that many stories connecting these two
characters, so I did it in the most obvious way possible.
Turnbull has an evil twin! (PG, language, violence)
Here's a taste:
Ray looked back and forth between Laurie and Fraser.
“You put Turnbull’s twin brother away?”
“It would appear so, Ray.”
“This is not a detail you forget, Fraser.”
“I’m sorry, Ray.”
Two Trucks,
a Cop, and a Baby
(60 Kb)
A piece I've been working on for a while. A little boy is
abandoned at the Consulate and it's up to Turnbull to make things right
with the help of Ray and Fraser. (PG)
Here's a taste:
Ren sat the boy on the table and opened the fridge. There was a
container of apple juice in the back. He pulled the jug out and set it
on the counter. Renfield stopped and frowned. Consulates were nice
places,
he thought, but they had a distinct lack of sippy cups. While he
pondered
a way to get the child some juice without making a mess, the boy
watched
him intently.
"Truck!" he said and pointed at Ren.
Turnbull looked at the boy in surprise. He
looked down at himself and then at the red truck in the boy's
hand. Oh, that was it.
The
Misadventures of Renfield
Turnbull, Canadian Private Eye (100 Kb)
The
AU that started out a parody and turned into
a mystery. The year is 1953 and Private Investigator Turnbull is
pulled into a case of mystery, mayhem, and murder by a certain
experimental blond. Can he solve the case before his client runs
out of time? (PG-13, violence)

Commentary!
Here's a taste:
For some reason, the office still smelled like well-oiled
leather and a hint of pine. It always made him think of home. The
abutting desks
faced each other in the center of the room. Ren’s desk was neat and
tidy,
as was the other. The only difference between them was the slight layer
of
dust that covered surface of the second desk. Normally, Ren was a
compulsive
cleaner. The very thought of dust made him shiver, but for some reason
he
just couldn’t bring himself to disturb the gray layer that covered
Fraser’s
desk. It seemed disrespectful. Of course, the rest of the office was
spotless.
Ren’s eyes slowly came back around to the man half sitting,
half leaning on his desk smoking a cigarette. Turnbull sighed and
thought, "This would be a lot easier if Fraser was still around. I’m
sure he’d know what to do with the experimental blond lounging on my
desk."
