Di - D/s is about a relationship that exists between a committed Dom and his sub...who give to each other unconditionally..and each has the power to be in control of themselves so they may share that with another. It's about a deep-rooted trust between them as friends.. confidantes'...build on mutual respect..friendship and loyalty and honor above all.
Eiko - D/s gaining fulfillment and deep in the soul satisfaction by either dominating or submitting to the will of another. This involves the consensual exchange of power to varying degrees according to the needs of those taking part.
S/M - gaining pleasure or deep fulfillment from the giving or receiving of pain, consensualy and a safely as possible.
Many people eroticise the giving and receiving of pain and whilst some do engage in this activity solely for sexual pleasure, other incorporate it into the D/S aspect of their lifestyle.
B/d - Bondage can be used as a form of discipline, as an erotic experience or for emotional safety. Many people like to be bound for the sense of security it gives them. Binding another assumes the taking of power or of dominance over the other
Flier ~ hmmmm tough question but let me see what I can do... I would say it is a love relationship that involves the exchange of power, one person submitting to the other, trusting in their judgement and love for the submissive... The Dominant has numerous duties including leading, teaching and "stretching" the other person's limits in order to instill growth and understanding. As to the sexual nature, that is solely determined between the submissive and the Dominant... Love and TRUST are paramount...
hopper ok.. for a subbie..
means being able to give to my One the deepest part of me releasing fears and any need to be *strong* just because society says i have to be and accepting from Her the guidance and lead my soul yearns for
MF's kitten ~ i'd have to say that BDSM for me gives me a focus on my life, in a serene, yet excitingly erotic manner. i adhere to it as i do "old-fashion" values, the manners or yore mingled with the independence of the self in the '90's (soon to be 2000's)
It allows for structure, yet gives O/ones focused roles in the "family" and in life as a couple. It allows more of an openness in communication (to those who are serious)
Viridiana - BDSM to me is the ultimate relationship due to the level of mutual trust and devotion...
Darc Knight ~The lifestyle:
A passionately intense relationship that exists between a Top and a bottom. A form of erotic play where personal power is exchanged willingly for the purpose of excitement or fulfillment.
paleface ~ A dynamic exchange of power between two individuals ,,that allows each to become one with the other ....
~ecstasy ~ well i guess i would describe it as a learning experience, with a lot of emphasis on safety and trust.
diamond ~ Being a submissive within BDSM means that i willing choose to give the man i love my will and complete trust. It means that i proudly offer Him the greatest gift that i have to offer, myself. It also means that i have had the privilege of finding One who is deserving of that gift ops, i forgot about the joy i find in serving that One Who means more than the world to me. You can substitute that for the second if you combine the first two.
sylph ~ 3 sentences...LOVE, CARING, SECURITY
Lotta Skull ~ Enjoying special relationships that are capable of going deeper than most people can comprehend ...W/we are a group of people always striving for the "more" out of life..
Darkchylde ~ Dominance and submission for one. Whether that is over one's body or one's mind, it depends on the P/people involved. But whether it is or is nae, it is the strongest of factor(in my opinion) in BDSM. You cannae have the rest without D and s...it it the heart of BDSM.
Hammerhead ~ Submission should never come from a lack of self esteem Dominance should never come from either desperation nor an inability to compromise Socially inept and sexually disfunction are not prerequisites to join the community
lil fly ~ The lifestyle is being who i am meant to be. It is serving my Mistress and doing the best that is within me to do in order in ensure that above all else, She is pleased.
Aegis: CC......Trust and Love
tilted*halo~ love, intensity, mutual respect.. and that's all i got time for....... sorry~ blowkiss*~
Gravediggers bad lil wishybutt trust....honesty....respect....love.....intensity....
grainne ...been trying to explain it to a friend for a few days...and the best way i can think of doing it to tell him...That it's a journey for me. Learning to trust totally without questions...accepting the choices of Master...learning to give of myself and devoting myself to His happiness knowing that through His happiness, i find mine....total love and acceptance. Love, acceptance, devotion and commitment.
~laughing at myself~ did i mention love??
WarlockV life and love given without restraints and without boundaries ...
lady love {CJ} i can sum it up in a few words ... Safe, Sane, Consensual, Love, Trust and most of all, Honesty ... *ss*
HarleyLord .i think thew problem is that other than a few basic principles that most agree on..the lifestyle is so individual that it defies description in a broad sense
grainne ....i think you will find that E/each will have a different opinion of the lifestyle...as E/everyone has different reasons for making the choice of being part of this lifestyle responsibility....is a large part...W/we are all responsible for ensuring that W/we educate others...W/we are responsible for working to see that this lifestyle is accepted and not consider a fringe element or some simply kinky sex group...as a community W/we actually need to be much more active in educating O/others.....and taking care of each O/other
HarleyLord .suppose you could..but in something that is so personal, is a generalization a fair description? i don't know. but seems to me, experience is the only real teacher..
Maybe some general reading.. or a lifelong interest that they had no r/t description of before?? being involved w/ one in the lifestyle. if you think on it the things most have pointed to here are really the building blocks to any loving relationship. What makes ours different is the extent to which we take it, and i think that will always be beyond the norm of society.
nava: ..for this young one...BDSM is refining one's sense...learning how to pinpoint one's erotic talents, and streamline them to please your partner...to better serve their desires...i have found that my training has greatly influenced my feminine ways r/t...i am more aware in all of my senses...
tilted halo: to me it's complimenting One another from the start, there's common boundaries, common thoughts, values, and kink.......trust is built by getting to know one another as individual's then finding out what it is that will bring you closer together......... as ONE~ i guess you could call it whatever you want but, to me..... it feels damn good that i can place all of me in the hands of another and know that He has my best interests and love at heart
snoopy: it means being able to express mine or one's true feelings of submission or Dominance in a safe sane and consentual setting where both or all involved can experience fantasies without fear or ridicule
Cyberotica-Chrysalis ~ To Me . . . it is the embodiement of self-realization combining the exchange of power with A/another human being in a whole and healthy relationship as well as personal responsibility. At it's best, it engenders trust in one A/another, mutual respect, honesty, acceptance and fully interdpendant communication ~ both learning and teaching in mutual growth and fulfillment. In any of the aspects of BDSM D/s ~ flavors may vary but must hold to Safe, Sane and Consentual...
