Takuma tests for Jordan in 2000.

Takuma Sato is moving closer to a deal to drive for Jordan next season, his manager was quoted as saying today, Thursday.
Andrew Gilbert-Scott told Autosport. "We are very optimistic, and recently Eddie Jordan’s attitude has been very positive. Discussions have reached a very serious stage but until things are signed you can never be sure. This week is crunch time."
Signing Sato would put Jordan in pole position if, as expected, Honda decide to concentrate on just one team from 2003. Sato is a protégé of the car giants, having learnt his trade at their Suzuka driving school, and continues to enjoy their support.
Gilbert-Scott denied, however, that Honda were putting pressure on Jordan to take on Sato. "It’s the team’s decision. Honda aren’t pushing Takuma at all. It’s been very noticeable that Honda are standing back from the situation. They are only giving their support, not calling the shots."
Sato, 24, won the British Formula Three title this season with a record number of victories.
